Chase glanced at his surrounding, he was currently in the strange box that always rumbled and made a noise similar to a goose but louder, the young human next to him held him gently and occasionally patted his head, but he could not feel calm. Although the human (whose name was Ryder) had saved him, he was still wary of him, after all, he had been in one of these strange boxes with his previous humans before they left him alone on the streets of adventure city. How could he know that this Ryder would not do the same thing?
"don't worry Chase," Ryder said gently, Chase relaxed slightly when Ryder used his name, it made a nice difference from when his previous owners had just called him 'pup' or 'that dog'. "You'll enjoy your new home". That was the last thing he heard before being dumped on the streets.
Soon the rumbling stopped, chase whimpered as Ryder got out of the box, fearing that he was going to be left alone, but to his surprise and delight, Ryder opened up the door and gently picked him up before setting him down. "Here we are", it turns out that 'here' was a large green area with a tall building, Chase whimpered again, remembering the tall buildings that had loomed over him in the city.
"hey, its ok Chase" Ryder said and gently stroked his head "it's perfectly safe here" Chase slowly calmed down and walked to the large building, to his surprise, the tall building opened up and the inside was much nicer than the outside. Lots of toys, comfy beds and plenty of food!
"You must be starving" Ryder said and gave him a bowl full of food, which Chase eagerly dug into, not remembering the last time he ate.
As Chase ate, Ryder watched worriedly at the pup, if he was eating this eagerly at cheap dog food, then he mustn't have gotten a lot of food from his previous owners, he could practically see his ribs that stuck out on his tiny body. Once Chase had finished, he looked up at Ryder with his head slightly tilted. "Sorry, buddy" buddy. 'That sounded nice' chase thought "I'm afraid the vet said to ease food into you, eat too much and you could get sick. But..." Ryder reached into his pocket and grabbed a dog treat "he said it was ok to give you treats" chase eagerly ate the treat before yawning.
"Guess you must be tired" Ryder laughed and gently picked him up and carried him to one of the many beds "sleep tight chase" Ryder whispered as chase drifted off to sleep.
A few hours later, chase woke up and need to go, he walked over to the doors which opened up for him and he quickly did his business by a large tree and glanced around, he couldn't see Ryder anywhere! Was he abandoned again? What did he do wrong?
"hey chase!" he heard Ryder call from behind him, he looked and saw Ryder walking up to him carrying a bag, "sorry I worried you, I went to get some more food" Ryder put the bag on the ground and gently patted Chase's head "next time, I promise I'll wait until you wake up, or I'll bring you with me"
Chase barked happily and nuzzled into his arms
"I got you a present" Ryder said and dug around in the bag before pulling out a collar with a police tag on it "this shows that you'll always belong to me, and that I'll never abandon you"
Ryder carefully put the collar around chase's neck "it's a perfect fit" Ryder said happily and chase barked happily, glad that he now had a home.
Sorry if the ending's bad, I wasn't sure how to end it. Just that chase would get his collar.
