So this is my first story on this account, I hope you like it. ENJOY!! :P
“Dev.” my oldest sister Fineena called as she pounded on my door. My name is Devaney I’m 15 years old, and the fifth oldest of eight. Yes My parents had eight kids. My name is Irish for dark haired, which makes sense because my hair is such a dark brown it’s almost black. I have an identical twin named Keriana she’s older than me by a few minutes. Her name is Irish for dusky. Fineena is the oldest, her name means beautiful child, then I have twin brothers Kagen which is Irish for a thinker, and Kevron, Irish for handsome child. Then there is Keriana, and I and then my younger brother Neil, Irish for champion, my little sister Buan meaning goddess in Irish, and my youngest brother Lorcan Irish for little; firce-
“Devaney.” My sister called again pounding harder.
“What?” I asked annoyed.
“It’s time for dinner come on.” I got up, and walked downstairs, the one thing I’ve always wondered is why our names are Irish if we aren’t from Ireland. I walked into the dining room with Fineena and we took our spots. Fineena sat between mom and Kevron and I sat between Keriana and Lorcan. Lorcan is only five so sometimes I put him on my lap, and let him eat off my plate. When Fineena and I were seated we all bowed our heads and said grace. My mom is very religious.
“Hey mom?” I asked as we started helping ourselves to whatever was in front of us.
“Yes?” She replied.
“I was wondering why our names are all Irish if we aren’t from Ireland.” I said helping my self to the mashed potatoes.
“Well my great great grandfather is Irish, and your father and I just like Irish names.” She stated. I looked to my dad who was simply nodding because he had food in his mouth. We continued eating and making conversation. After we finished dinner Keriana, and I started washing the dishes. I washed and she rinsed and dried. When I finished washing the dishes, I put them away. Then we went to Lorcan’s room to put him to bed. I grabbed my guitar from my room before heading to Lorcan’s room. When I got there Keriana already had him in bed.
“Dev!” He said excitedly as walked in. “Are you gonna play again?” The little boy questioned. I nodded a huge smile on my face. I sat down next to Keriana, and started to play softly as she sang.
“Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high, there’s a land that I heard of once in a lullaby.
Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue, and the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true.
Someday I’ll wish upon a star, and wake up where the clouds are far behind me.
Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops that’s where you’ll find me.
Somewhere over the rainbow, bluebirds fly, birds fly over the rainbow, why then oh why can’t I.
If happy little bluebirds fly beyond the rainbow why oh why can’t I.” Keriana sang softly as she finished.
“Can I go there?” Lorcan asked sleepily.
“Only if you fall asleep.” I replied.
“Goodnight then.” he said as he rolled over.
“Goodnight.” Keriana and I said. We walked out of his room and shut the door quietly.
“Thank you girls for doing that.” Mom smiled at us.
“You’re welcome.” We both replied.
“Well since tomorrow is your last day of vacation we’re doing something special. So we all need to be up by 8 am.”
“Okay mom.” We replied. She kissed our foreheads and then headed to her room. Keriana and I said goodnight to everyone before heading up to bed. Her room was right next to mine. I sat on my bed and pulled my phone out of my coat pocket and set it on my nightstand before throwing my coat to my desk chair. I hit the light switch next to my bed to turn my lights off. Then I got under my covers. I grabbed my phone, and earbuds from my nightstand, and put in my earbuds before starting the music and drifting to sleep.
A/N So this is the first chapter it’s really short, but I wanted to get it out, so tell me what you think if you would like. Thanks for reading.
