Chapter 3 - hide and seek

Third person POV

Dream was on his bed when Nightmare walked in, Dream looked at Nightmare and his eyelights became a bit smaller as he became more alert, he had scooted back on his bed as his back hit the wall at the head of the bed. Nightmare saw this and he grinned, walking to the foot of the bed as he said "Dream~... let's play a little game of hide and seek~ you hide, and I seek~..." Dream stared at Nightmare before he said "is there anything else to it..?.." Nightmare grinned. "Well~ if I win... I get to keep you.... Forever~. And if you win, then I'll let you go, and we can make a truce~.." Dream's eyelights became a bit smaller before he looked down, thinking a moment before he looked at Nightmare, saying "a-and if I don't play..?.." Nightmare has thought of everything and he said "then I'll just kill you~." Dream froze as fear filled his body and soon he said quietly "I-I'll play..." Nightmare said "great~ you can hide anywhere inside the castle.... I'll give you ten minutes to hide, and I have one hour to seek. If I don't find you in that time, you win~" Dream stared at Nightmare before he nodded and Nightmare continued speaking "I'll start counting~"

after that, Nightmare started to count and Dream got up and ran out the bedroom door the best he could, running through the halls as he had leaned on the hallways' walls to help him walk, he would've thought he gotten tons of distance, but every hall he went down looked exactly the same as the other, and it confused him a bit, and he when he heard Nightmare counting from his room again, he realized he went in a circle, and he panicked, quickly going a few rooms down as he had found a door and went into it, it was dark and he couldn't see anywhere around the room but after about 30 seconds, his eyes adjusted to the dark and he saw there was a bed, he went and hid underneath the bed and felt some warm, sticky stuff under it... and it stank horribly. He plugged his nose and prayed it wasn't what he thought it was.... Later, he would find out it was.

Nightmare cheated, of course, but let Dream think he was going to win; Just because he's cruel like that. After 40 minutes of Dream sitting there, and feeling some things moving on him that felt almost worm like and then some sharp pains in the part he felt them on, Nightmare walked into the room. Dream saw the light of the hallway flood into the room a moment before the door closed again, tears formed in Dream's eyes as he started to get extremely scared, but he held his breath. Nightmare spoke "oh, Dream~~ I know you're in here~ I just don't know where~.." Nightmare went around the room and acted like he didn't know where Dream was, then, just as Dream thought he was going to leave, Nightmare would've scared Dream by popping up in his face and Nightmare had took Dream out from under the bed, Dream yelping as tears started to stream down his face as he made a sad face. Dream is more used to being in a positive environment, and being this scared for his life has put a toll already on his positivity.

Nightmare spoke "I found you~" Dream started to sob, thinking about how he just lost everything basically... not his physical life, but the life he had away from Nightmare, the life he had with his friends... it was gone, he was never getting it back. And he knew that. Nightmare pulled Dream into a hug, though, which was surprising, but that hug soon turned into something not so nice when Nightmare had started to touch Dream in ways Dream didn't particularly like. Dream would've made an uncomfortable face before he had struggled to get away from Nightmare.. "P-Please don't...." Dream said gently. Nightmare would've then teleported them to his room and Nightmare would just now see the state Dream was in, seeing maggots digging their way in and eating Dream's bone and blood, Nightmare would've gagged before he teleported them to the infirmary in the castle as he had gave Dream to the nurses, saying "maggots" and that's it before he teleported away to go throw up-.

Dream would've looked at his legs and arms before he saw the maggots, he made a pained face before he looked at the nurses, they had took him to a bed and got him on a healing magic and antibiotic drip- because maggots, bacteria.. Dream would probably get a bacterial infection if he wouldn't of been put on antibiotics... and then the nurses would've plucked the maggots out of Dream's bones, Dream flinched as the nurses did that but didn't do much, you could see he was broken, he didn't have much life in him anymore, his spark was gone.(Gacha logic-) and one of the mental health specialists there saw this and said "are you alright, lord Dream?." Dream looked at them before he said "I'm never getting back...." Tears formed in his eyes and started to run down his face again, soon he started to cry gently. The mental health specialist said "back where?" "Home! With my friends!!... my life..!.." he sobbed gently and then put his hands over his face "why does it hurt this much?.... Why does Nightmare hate me?!...." The specialist was silent before she said "I can assure you, he doesn't hate you. He just... doesn't act normally when it comes to feelings... but I know for a fact he doesn't hate you..." Dream, after that, just went silent as he cried. His tears eventually stopped as he started to feel stupid to cry like this. He just stared blankly at the ceiling, and eventually, he was alone.. he laid on the bed, letting time pass him, he's lost hope already.

After about.. 2 hours of that, Nightmare had come back to Dream, looking at him before he went to the chair by his bed, he said gently "how are you?." As he sat down. Dream looked at Nightmare before he looked away. He didn't want to talk... especially not to Nightmare. ".. you can't stay silent forever, Dream." Dream was planning on proving Nightmare wrong. He wasn't going to speak.. not for a long while.
