I saw him flash his bright white teeth as he threw his lanky arms around me. I smiled and laughed, hugging him right back.
"We'll take care of you, okay?" He looked me dead in the eyes. All I could do was nod. I was touched by his hospitality. There was a faint knock at the door as it creaked open. One heavily made-up eye was peering through the crack.
"Come on in," I said softly. My whole mouth felt dry and all I wanted was just a glass of water. Ash smiled as she snuck into the room.
"Hi, we never properly met. I'm Ash." She stuck out her dainty hand and I took it with all of the power I had left. It must be obvious that I looked awful considering Jake, Anthony, and Nick came in shortly after with some food and by "some food" I mean an actual BUFFET. They had trays upon trays of food. I felt my mouth salivating as Nick placed a tray in my lap. Mac'n'cheese. My favorite. I sat and ate, satisfied.
"Everyone gather around!" Nikki beckoned everyone next to my bed.
"I've--- We've got some news," he smiled over at me stuffing my face. I quickly wiped the corners of my mouth and let out a muffled "We do? Oh yeah! We do!" I swallowed harshly and took a sip of water.
"Alright everyone..." He surveyed the faces of his friends. I couldn't help but think how cute he looked when he was nervous. 'God Antonia! Stop that!' I looked back at Nikki and the group.
"So our new friend Antonia will be staying with us for a little while," We both looked around at the reactions of Nikki's friends. Everyone had a pokerface and time seemed to drag on and on and on. The silence only broke when Ash let out a high pitched squeal and launched herself at me.
"FINALLY!!!", she smiled and laughed. "I NEEDED another girl in that house!!!" I was taken back by her reaction. I smiled and hugged her as she giggled.
"This will be SO much fun!" She smiled and looked at me with nothing less than complete adoration. I looked at the other boys as they smiled from me, to Nikki, then back again.
"So I'm assuming she's off limits?" Nick said. The way he said it made me think he was actually being serious.
"Shut up Nick" Anthony said, shoving him a little. They both laughed. A loud knock emitted from the door as the knob squeaked.
"Hello everyone," the nurse said softly. "I'm going to need everyone who isn't family to step out please." Her voice was high pitched and her smile was obviously forced. Ash reluctantly pulled herself away and the gang began to walk out and I was thrown into a panic.

"Wait!" I yelled, grabbing onto the closest person who just so happened to be Anthony. "Don't leave please.." I looked up at him and he turned to see everyone already out of the room.
"Okay, yeah, sure.." he said, sounding slightly hesitant. I looked up at him and gave him a weak smile. "Thank you," I said softly. The nurse turned back to my bedside and looked at Anthony.
"Family?" she asked, her fake sweet voice faltering.
"No, but the closest thing..." I looked up at her, my eyes begging to let him stay.
"Fine," she said, slightly bitter. She walked over to me and parted my hair.
"Ow! What are you doing?" I winced and grabbed onto Anthony's forearm.
"Geez, Superwoman, chill!" he exclaimed as I squeezed his arm harder and harder.
"I'm removing your stitches," she said, her voice distant. I glanced over at Anthony.
"I don't remember getting stitches," I spoke softly.
"You were out cold, that's why" he said plainly as if I should've known.
"How long was I out for?" I asked as the nurse poked and pulled at my scalp.
"Two days? Maybe three." He said. He sounded exhausted. There's not a doubt in my mind that Nikki didn't let them leave the whole time I was out.
"Okay, I'm done." the nurse said, matter-of-factly. "You're clear to leave whenever you feel ready" She turned around and left. The second she left
the room, everyone ran back in.
"Did she say you can leave? Ash said she heard her say that! Is that true? Hey, Anthony what are you doing in here?" He continued to bombard us with questions until I held up my finger. He pressed his lips together and looked at us.
"Yes I can leave and Anthony was in here because I got sca--" I stopped myself and blushed a little. I couldn't admit that I was scared but by the look on Jake and Nick's faces it was already too late.
"Awwwwww is wittle toni scawed of the big big nuwse?" Jake said as Nick burst into laughed. Ash backhanded Jake's chest and he let out a loud 'OOF'.
"Shut up you guys. You'd be shitting yourself if you were in her position" she said, an angry edge in her voice. "But Toni, if you're ready to leave, we can go." she said, that edge disappearing.
"I think we can go," I said, everyones face lighting up. "BUT," I said, clearly ruining the mood. "I wan't to stop home and get a few things. Y'all can head home, I know how to get to my place from here." Nikki looked at me.
"Guys, can you step out for a second?" he said sheepishly. They nodded and walk out.
"Toni, I can't let you see them alone." He said, looking into my eyes intensely.
"I'll be fine Nikki. Don't worry." I have always been a terrible liar and this was no exception.
"I'm coming." His voice was stern and a little scary dare I say. The door creaked open followed by angry whispers.
"We know you're there," Nikki said, laughing.
"I told you guys not to let Jake be the listener!" Ash said, crossing her arms.
"Sorry guys..." Jake said with an awkward smile, scratching the back of his neck.
"So what does she not want us to come to that we're obviously gonna come to?" Nick asked smiling. I sighed. I never thought I'd have to say these words. I looked at them with nothing short of terror in my eyes
"We're going to see my mom..."
