You're sitting in the middle of your queen sized bed, tissues surrounding you. Were you sick? No, you have been crying ever since you got home from your patrol earlier that day. Why were you crying? While you were out on your daily patrol, you witnessed a villain rob a store & kill several innocent people. You rushed over & tried to use your healing quirk on them, but it was too late, they were already gone. Upset that you weren't fast enough, you went home.
Maybe if you had been a little faster, you could have saved at least one person. You kept beating yourself up over it as you pulled another tissue from the box, wiping the tears from your eyes. You then heard the front door open & someone walk in. You knew it was your boyfriend, Keigo Takami or better know by his pro hero name, Hawks.
"Little birdie, I'm home. Where are you?" he called out, his voice distant.
You quickly throw as many tissues you can into the trash can next to the bed & quickly dry your eyes. You put on a fake smile as Hawks enters the bedroom.
"There you are little birdie. I missed you today."
He walked over to you, leaning down to kiss you, but he stopped short, noticing your puffy eyes from where you've been crying.
"Have you been crying? What's wrong little birdie? Talk to me."
He sat down next you, grabbing your hand softly, rubbing the top of it with his thumb. You shake your head no and tell him you're fine. He knew you were lying just by the look on your face.
"Come on, tell me what's up. You know I'm here for you no matter what. I love you more than anyone or anything in this world. I want you to be okay & when you're not okay, I want to be the one to make it better. Talk to me little birdie."
You tell him again that you're fine. He sighs as he shakes his head slightly. He lets go of your hand & stands up.
"Okay fine, if you won't tell me here, maybe you'll tell me as we're flying through the sky. It's a beautiful night tonight so maybe that'll get you to open up to me."
He then leaned down & picked you up out of bed. He held you bridal style as he walked to the front door. He reached out one hand, opening the door. He walked out into the cool night air, kicking the door shut with his foot. He spread his wings out wide before taking off into the night. The two of you flew high above the city. Hawks held you tightly against his chest with just one arm, so tight that you could hear his heartbeat.
"Now will you tell me what's been bothering you?"
You remained silent. Why were you not telling Hawks why you're upset? It's not like he'd judge you or get mad at you, you tried your best, you tired to save them.....you just weren't fast enough. Instead of talking, you just buried your face into his chest, starting to cry softly again. Hawks heard you crying so he held you closer while rubbing your hair with his other hand.
"There there little birdie, it's okay. You can tell me when you're ready, for now just let it out."
You cried into his chest harder. This broke Hawks's heart to hear you cry this hard & not tell him what's wrong. Did he feel you didn't trust him enough? You two had been dating for over 5 months now, so you should trust him & you did.
Several more minutes passed & you had grew quiet. Hawks looked down slightly at you.
"Little birdie? Are you ready to talk?"
You were quiet, but not because you didn't want to talk. You had actually fallen asleep from both crying so much & the gentle feeling of flying. Hawks took notice of you sleeping. He turned around, heading back home with you.
"That's okay little birdie, you can tell me in the morning if you're ready then. Goodnight my sweet little bird, I love you so very much."
