Shadows

She was trying so hard to look through the dark of the night and contemplate the situation at hand; trying to stop those tears from falling from her eyes and the urge to scream with all the pain that she was feeling right now, at the top of her voice. She was shaking with the fear that was creeping up in her mind and with her bottom-lip shivering from her sobbing, she was calling out to him: "Matt...!! Mattu please don't do this to me baby..." Her chest was heaving from her heavy-breathing, from her running so wildy.

Gen was running wildly through the dark rooms and halls of the deserted building, unable to quite figure out where to go and look for what she had. If it was not because of the storm and lightening outside, it would have been impossible for her to even see the back of her hand and now the darkness arround her was creeping into her heart, slowly eating away the little bit of hope she was left with. The horrible sounds of the thunder outside was somehow depicting the loud noise she could feel inside her; the noise of her heart breaking into uncountable pieces. He always loved to scare the shit out of her but never did he ever behaved like how he was doing right now because he knew she had a heart of a dear and it was a complete surprise how she was still going on. The aching inside her heart had reached a point of numbness where she was feeling so much and yet nothing at all and the fear that was now running through every pore of her body was enough to get any ones nervous system breakdown.

She was just not able to understand how he was right here with her just a few moments ago and now it was as if he never even existed and everyone was completely fine with it except her. How could she be fine with it? It was practically not possible for something to just disappear out of the face of earth, especially if that something meant so much to you. She was not going to giveup, she had decided, even if it meant she had to keep running in the dark to find him and getting her heart broken again and again. She just knew he was somewhere around here, but what she couldn't understand was why was he hiding from her. But she was going to find him even if everyone believed he's gone. How could he be gone if she could still feel his scent in the air and his presence in the surroundings and every piece of her broken heart.

Now she was at the end of the corridor and curtains were flying because of the storm outside, taking up different shape to terrify her then she already was. She was sure he was somewhere arround here. She just knew he was trying to play with her and trying to scare the shit out of her; but didn't he realize she was already more scared than she had ever been in her life before. Obviously he knew her inside out than why was he acting like he was deafblind or something. She was at the verge of breaking down now, but as she turned arround, she saw him at the other end of the long corridor, his broad form that she could recognize even in her sleep. Relief washed over her face as she saw him. She called out to him: "Mattu stOp..! Please wait for me. 'M right here... MATHAN..!", but he didn't even turn arround. It was as if he was unable to hear her. She started running like a madman towards him but he was already vanishing in the dark corridor. She reached the spot where she saw him just moments ago, panting hard, but he was already gone, nobody knew where.

She screamed with all that she had and her pain-stricken voice pierced through the darkness, miserable enough to make the stones cry. The pain that she felt at the moment, made her believe that she's going to die right away and suddenly she woke up. Panicking she looked arround and found herself on her bed alone, drenched in sweat, breathing hard she realized it was her dream again. She reached for her phone and scrolled through her text messages, maybe hoping deep inside to see a text from him, but obviously it wasn't there, it couldn't be. She sighed and got-up to get ready for the day that stretched ahead. Going through her wardrobe she took out, what was now becoming her signature, a jeans, an over-large t-shirt, a stole and her denim jacket. Taking the shower, she tried not to think about the dream she had last night and every night since that dreadful incident 2 years ago. She tried to block her mind from every memory of that day that had turned the course of her life completely upside down and concentrate on getting ready. She wouldn't let her mind go there; its a dead-end street and she knew it; she wouldn't go there, she decided as she pulled up her really long wavy hairs into a really messy bun, not especially today. Today was special. She almost smiled thinking about it; almost.
