Part 3

Today... was not a good day. Akito didn't know if someone had unknowingly placed a bad luck effect on her from some quirk or if she had been cursed like in all the fairy tales, but she certainly wasn't having a good day.

Her morning had started off great too! She had woken up early, eaten a delicious breakfast and then had left her apartment with plenty of time to get to work. But, then everything started to turn on her. One moment she's waiting for her train on the usual line, the next a rail attendant is announcing that the line would be canceled due to a fight between a hero and a villain further down.

So, she ended up having to wait with a huge crowd of people asking for a detour route, and only barely heard what was told to her. But, she heard 'bus' mentioned and had her phone. So she looked up how to get to work via a bus. It was definitely a longer trip, but if all went well from here, she'd make it to work with five minutes to spare.

Akito managed to get onto the bus and then relaxed for the thirty minute journey it would take. She looked out the window, seeing school days running off to class, businessmen and women walking at brisk paces while talking to someone on their phones and even cute little older couples going for a morning walk together.

Finally though, her bus made it! Now she only had to quickly walk a mere two blocks and she'd be at the agency! So, she started to walk, but almost immediately, her heel caught on the small gap between the concrete sidewalk and a metal grate. One moment she was walking, the next she had planted into the pavement.

Akito whined, seeing that while her clothing was fine despite that fall- her left heel wasn't as lucky. It had snapped. Akito sighed in exhaustion and looked at her right heel. Did she snap this one and then run? Did she take off her shoes and try to not slice her feet open with anything that may be on the street? Or did she just not care and try to walk with one broken heel because work was more important then how well she could walk.

She ended up going with the last option. Akito nearly fell a few more times, nearly crashed into a few people, and nearly got hit by a car when she ran across a crossing when it only had two seconds left before the light changed and let the cars go.

But she made it to work!

Ten minutes late and therefore had an unhappy superior. The older woman who had hired her was sitting at Akito's usual spot, doing her job, and then giving the younger girl a hard look when she finally wandered in.

The lobby was empty now, so Akito knew she was about to get a scolding. She just hoped that her disheveled look and embarrassed face would at least let the older woman know she had indeed tried her best to get here on time.

"Akito-san-" The older woman started. "-being late to your post results in you receiving a strike. Three strikes in your time here results in you getting hired. We are working at a hero agency after all, one of the top pro-hero's agencies as well, so even us non-heros need to keep up appearances. Being late is a great offense to this office."

Akito nodded. "I know, ma'am. I'm sorry... I guess things were destined to go against me today: my usual train line got canceled because of a hero fight, the bus I took instead was much longer than my train, and to kick dirt in my face further... my heel snapped two blocks from here and I had to run in a broken heel. I'm sorry. I really wasn't trying to be late-"

The older woman sighed and it stopped Akito from trying to continue on. Akito lowered her head and closed her eyes. She had a feeling no excuses were acceptable here.

"If that is what happened, then you should have called ahead and informed us of the outside forces restricting you from arriving on time. But since this is the first time you've been late and it wasn't because of anything on your end, I'll let it slide. Just don't forget to call and report your arrival delays next time, Akito-san."

Akito sighed, leaning down onto her desk. This morning had been terrible, but at least now it was the afternoon. Maybe she could get this terrible day turned around! As if the world was waiting for her to be positive, she got an alert on a new task.

Her eyes widened and her stomach fell. One of the higher up sidekicks was giving her the job of creating, printing, and delivering several hundred informational flyers that would be distributed to local elementary schools to help educate the kids on 'stranger danger'. Due at the end of the day.

Looks like her lunch was nonexistent now.

So, Akito got to work. Putting information in and trying to find colors and fonts that looked the best. By the time she had gotten a final copy and approved from the sidekick, she was printing the flyers while her head was laying on her desk again.

"The hell is wrong with you?"

Akito lifted her head up in panic. Bakugou stood near her little reception area, looking suspicious of her. Akito sighed and Bakugou huffed out.

"Bad day?"

"You have no idea, Bakugou-san."

"Well if you skipped lunch-" He spoke and put something down onto her little area. "-think of this as a return gesture for that coffee and for having to deal with those morons."

He had put down what looked like a croquette sandwich. Akito's stomach growled and she smiled softly at him. Bakugou paused, letting her smile hit him for a moment before he managed to find the words to continue on.

"Not everyday is gonna be a fucking good one. But, just get through the bad ones so you can have another good one." He shrugged. "Enjoy your late lunch, I've got a meeting to attend with the other head sidekicks... so my day isn't that fucking pleasant either. So you ain't alone at least in today being shitty."

He passed by her and Akito smiled gently. It certainly hadn't been the most comforting, but she was grateful to Bakugou for even saying anything to her. Plus, thanks to him, she had lunch. Something she forgot this morning to make and couldn't go out to get. One small gesture of good luck and the tasty meal was enough for her to continue to charge through the day.

Soon her only assignment left before she could clock out was to collect the flyers from the printing center and bring them to the hero who was waiting for her to give them over so he could start to deliver them to schools tomorrow.

Akito didn't know why the pro-hero wanted her to bring these flayers to him in the lobby, but she was done with today and just wanted the flyers off her hands. The stack was tall, and like an idiot, she tried to carry them all out in one go.

While she was no longer wearing heels, but an emergency pair of flats she kept at work, it seemed her bad luck was not over yet. She somehow managed to snag a part of her pants and it made her start to lose her balance. If she dropped all these flyers, she'd be here for so much longer!

"Hey there!" Someone said and grabbed onto the flyers from the other side.

She knew that voice. "Kaminari?"

"Yup! And lemme help you." He said and took half the flyers from here.

Akito could now see and was greeted by Kaminari's bright face. He was in hero attire and was carrying a folder under his arms. He must be here to drop off some information Best Jeanist or one of his sidekicks had asked for.

Kaminari helped Akito bring the flyers to the other hero who was waiting and the man took them, looking to be putting them in his care for tomorrow. Kaminari and Akito were alone once more.

"So..." Kaminari started and Akito turned to look at him. "I've been meaning to ask you, and I might as well now since you're here. So, are you maybe free sometime this weekend for a meal?"

Akito blinked. Was... he asking her out? A hero was asking her out?! She blushed darkly, not understanding why or how he would be interested in her of all people, but Kaminari was for some reason!

"So what do you think? No pressure of course." Kaminari told her and Akito smiled gently.

"I'd love to. I'm only working a half-day Saturday." She told him.

Kaminari nodded and smiled. "Great! Saturday afternoon then! See you soon, Akito!"

She watched as he handed her the folder and then dashed out of the lobby. Akito smiled and chuckled softly. About time something good happened today.
