Genevieve drove to her college in a frenzy. She was not able to completely block her mind and it kept going back to that dead-end street, she dreamt about every night since past 2 years. Cars sped by hers, but she was in a world of her own, where there was a battle going on between her mind and her heart and her mind was as usual the one losing miserably. With a muddled mind, she put on the radio to loosen up her thoughts and it actually worked when she found a smile finding a way on her lips as she heard Enrique singing: "I like it", and her thoughts imediately went to the first and the last time she ever went to a crazzy night party all thanks to her crime-partner; her bestfriend: Zack Shaw, the heart-throb and the biggest flirt in the world. She remembered how he had actually dragged her to the dance floor as this song was just starting up. He had pointed towards her, winking, he sang along:
"My girlfriend's out of town & m all alone, your boyfriends on vacation & he doesnt have to know",
while dancing his heart out. Damn he was a great dancer but that didn't mean he had a chance to flirt with her so shamelessly. No one was allowed to do that but somehow all she could do at that moment was roll her eyes at him while shouting back: "huh, cheeseball". That was the craziest night of her life as she remembered getting so drunk that she didnt even remember how she had reached her apartment but she remembered how Zack had teased her for the next couple of days, making her promise herself that she won't ever get drunk again. She smiled slightly as she thought about him. He indeed was something. He was a ladies man and she doesnt remember any of his girlfriends ever lasting for over a week. What she never understood was why he always had girls drooling all over him? Well she did accepted the fact that he was handsome. Infact he was one of the most handsome guy she had ever came accross but that doesnt change the fact that he was a complete moron. Atleast that was what she believed.
Gen went back to the time she had first met him. It was her first week in college and she already had a tons of assignments and projects coming her way but what worried her the most was the psychology experiment she had to perform. It needed her to convince people to be her lab-rats and let her test their memory. She had gone to her school friend, Allie, who was in the same college doing architecture. She had told her the situation and somehow convinced her 'new-friends' to help her out. & hence she met Zack, the guy who looked so much like Ryan Gosling, her ultimate love of life. He was her first human subject ever. After that day, she don't know why but she kept bumping into him from time to time, at the most strange places and Zack being Zack, always greeted her with a smirk on his face and "hey psycho! who're you testing today?". It was all annoying and amusing for Gen at the same time because despite his playboy exterior, there was an honesty in him. Well it can actually be said that she liked bumping into this silly moron who thinks he can get every girl, although she would never accept it. But Gen being Gen never let their acquaintance get any further. She didn't needed morons like him hanging arround her.
It was so strange to actually believe she thought like that back then. She almost laughed at how naive she was. They only became friends when she got her dream scholarship and got transfered to Nottingham University to complete her degree. She remembered her first day and how nervous she was when she was not able to grasp where exactly her class was. Walking down the corridor, totally engrossed in the floor map of the university, she had bumped hard into someone, throwing her books and bag in all directions. Without looking up, she had yelled, "Fuck you moron!", but was surprised to hear that one thing she was not expecting at all, "hey psycho". She looked up from the floor and saw those mischievious eyes and that develish smile. "Hey mr. architect! here we meet again". He had laughed at the sarcasm in her voice before sitting down to help her collect her books and said, "Envious at my luck, huh?", giving her a crooked smile. "Just what on earth are you doing here?" she had almost hissed at him but his reply had actually made her laugh. "All the chicks here were just missing on so much fun. I thought its my duty to spice up there lives a bit", he winked. "Wake up and get a life moron", is what she had replied. And from the day onwards they found themselves becomming the best of friends.
For two years, Gen and Zack were each others companions through thick and thin. They were totally insane together and no one was relieved from the wrath they created when they plotted mischief against everyone. They were total opposites but their adventurous spirit bonded them together. People seeked for mercy from them until Zack got selected for the 2 years advanced course in Australian architecture, and left. But the incident happened right after he left which made Gen shut the whole world on her, losing contact with everyone. This sudden realization brought unwanted tears in her eyes. Zack still had no idea what had happened as she had made it clear to everyone that she didn't wanted to be everybody's talking-stock.
She snapped back into the world as she pulled her car in the college parking lot. Zack was coming back today....!
