"Damn, you look hot!" My best friend Cassidy squealed from my vanity.
I chuckled quietly and looked in the mirror. I did look pretty good in the neon green long sleeve short dress. The silver pumps complimented my already long legs and I had my hair curled to perfection.
"You don't look to bad yourself." I complimented. She was wearing black a one shoulder that had little cut outs along one of the sides and beading all around the top. Her vibrant red hair was in a complicated side braid, and she did a smokey eye to make her jungle green eyes pop out.
"Cas and Addie breaking hearts tonight." She joked as we left my room.
I laughed along with her contagious laughter and climbed into the fast sports car.
----------------------------------------
I giggled as I threw back another glass of the blue liquor that tasted like blueberries and pineapples.
Long forgotten was Henry and his dumb plans, and I had lost Cassidy about and hour ago.
I jumped off my stool at the bar and walked my way over to the dance floor. Swaying my hips in a circle to the beat of the music I began to feel the effects of all the drinks. My mind was numb and everything felt happy. I closed my eyes and danced through the songs.
"Adeline?" A familiar voice shouted over the music.
I opened my eyes to see a pair of grey ones looking back at me.
"Oh, hey Keaton."
He gave me a boyish smile that made my heart thump an extra time.
"Are you here by yourself?" He looked around before turning his attention back to me.
"No, my friend Cassidy is somewhere around here." I explained as my eyes scanned for that crazy red head.
"Your fiancé let you come here without him?" He asked with an incredulous tone.
"Well I told him I had plans that didn't involve him." I said feeling irritated that he was prying into my business.
"Why do you care anyway?" I back fired.
"Just curious." He raised his hands in surrender before saying, "see ya around."
Rolling my eyes at his behavior I began dancing again. It wasn't long until I felt a pair of hands land on my hips and I turned around to see a relatively cute guy behind me.
Too bad he wasn't cuter, I might have danced with him.
I began to untangle his arms from me but his grip tightened.
"Come on babe, just one dance." He tried saying seductively.
"Sorry I'm engaged so get off me." I replied. I tried pushing his hands off again but his grip tightened even more.
"Let go you're hurting me!" I whimpered.
"Hey man, let go of my fiancé!" I looked up from the strangers arms to see Keaton looking at me with anger in his eyes.
"Sorry man I didn't now she was taken." The guy behind me said as he let go of my waist.
"Like hell you didn't she just told you!" Keaton grabbed my wrist and started pulling me towards the bar.
"Um, thanks for that." I said quietly jerking my thumb back to the dance floor.
"It's no problem. Do you want a drink?"
"Just water please."
He smirked at me before ordering two waters.
"So why are you really here without your fiancé?" He asked after a few minutes.
"I already told you. My plans just didn't concern him tonight."
"Come on, I've got three sisters and you two didn't even talk at lunch." He argued.
After he realized I wasn't going to tell him he gave me an annoyed look.
"Fine. At least tell me you are happy with the arrangement."
"I'm happy with the arrangement." The words seemed foreign on my tongue for the first time. Was I really happy about spending the rest of my life with Henry?
"Okay." He gave a smiled that seemed almost forced and took a long drink of his water.
"So did you always live here?" I awkwardly questioned after a few moments of silence.
"No, I grew up in Florida and moved here about a year ago."
I nodded my head at his answer and took a drink of the cold water.
"Do you think your dad will agree to my dad's proposition?" He asked.
"I really don't know. Probably not with the whole marriage thing. Maybe if your dad had said something before I was born than yeah, he would've."
"How old are you?" He asked after I finished my little rant.
"Twenty-one. What about you?"
"Twenty-two." He smiled.
I bit my lip and gently shook my head looking down at my drink.
The familiar beat of a song sparked my attention and I smiled real big.
"Oh my gosh this is my favorite song."
"Really? I had you pegged as one of those One Direction girls." Keaton said with a teasing smirk.
"You know One Direction?"
"Three sisters."
My mouth made an 'o' shape at his explanation. I continued to bounce in my seat as I sang the words.
"You look like you're about to pee your pants." Keaton laughed.
"Shut up and come dance with me." I said grabbing his hand and pulled him to the floor.
I laughed as we jumped around and he spun me around.
We danced for a few more songs until Cassidy decided to make an appearance.
"I have been looking everywhere for you young lady!" She fake scolded.
I rolled my eyes at her before introducing her to Keaton.
"Well I guess I'll see you around." Keaton said giving Cas a handshake and me a side hug. We began leaving when he called my name.
"I'll meet you at the car." I told Cassidy and she nodded her head leaving.
"Yeah?"
His eyes flickered down to my lips before looking back to my eyes. He bit the inside of his cheek and slowly bent down to my height.
He gave me a light kiss on the cheek that lingered just a little to long before he stood back up. Just that small touch made my heart beat triple.
"I'll see you later." I breathed out.
He slowly nodded his head and turned around leaving me in the middle of the floor.
----------------------------------------
"So that Keaton guy is really hot." Cas commented as she pulled on her pajamas.
"Yeah he is." I said thinking back to that small kiss.
"And if I did t know any better I'd say you have the hots for him." She casually commented.
I didn't respond to her comment as I pulled a t-shirt over my head.
"I knew it! You do!" She shouted with a victorious smile.
"I do not! I'm engaged and I love with Henry." The words seemed automatic.
"Do you really?" She said seriously.
I bit my lip as I looked in the mirror. I do love Henry, but do I love him like I did back in highschool?
"I think I do." I said quietly.
Sensing my need for a subject change Cas began talking about the ridiculous assignment she just finished for her photography class.
If I really didn't love Henry anymore why were my feelings just now changing?
Or had I always felt this way, and just did what everyone wanted me to?
