One Shot; Kya.lin

time moves slow

"Lin? Love, are you home?" The water bender asked as soon as she stepped inside. The silence within their home made her eyes tears up, not because Lin was absent only today, but because Lin hadn't been home for a while.
Their schedules were complete opposites; when Kya got at home at night, Lin had just started working and well, when Kya was leaving in the morning, Lin was just getting home.

The water bender hung her coat on the wall and went straight to bathroom, her clothes getting dropped haphazardly on the floor before she stepped inside shower. With the flick of her hand, the shower turned on, another flick and the water warmed up almost immediately. It was too warm for her liking so with another flick of her fingers the water turned cold.

Too cold.

Too warm.

Too cold.

Too warm again.

Despite this Kya continued to shower until, with a final flick, the water turned off and she stepped out of shower. As she got ready for bed, her mind travelled, drifting over memories and ghosting over thoughts that made tears run down her cheeks. They travelled to old memories, the honeymoon phase, the love between those emerald eyes, the tension between them when nobody was around.

"Lets go, Lin, nobody will see us" Kya said with a big smile in her face. The earth bender simply couldn't resist. Her shirt practically flew to the floor, just like her bra and the rest of her clothes. Lin almost ran into the water bender's arms, the water splashing as soon as she got in the ocean, the pair giggling as they jumped in the sea. The moon was out and the calm and dark ocean was just warm enough to swim in comfortably.

"Wait Kya, what if someone sees me naked out here?" Lin asked with her arms wrapped around the taller woman.

"Then they're fucking lucky." Kya answered, trailing her mouth down the earth bender's neck, leaving a soft kiss. "Let me show you something" She murmured as she pressed soft kisses, down Lin's chest and all over her abs.
A bubble of air was created around the water bender as her head became submerged under the waves, her lips meeting exactly where Lin wanted them, allowing her to breathe whilst she pleasured her lover. A small moan come out from the other woman's mouth and she lost herself in bliss and lust.

A ring on her phone and Kya eyes went to the mirror, and then to her phone. It wasn't her. It wasn't Lin. Instead was an older friend. The ring tone played one, two, three times. Then the screen lit up as a message came through.

I miss you, call me when you can : )

Kya ignored it and made her way to the big empty bed in their room; she was getting used to sleeping alone now. Soon her eyes were closed but even when she was tired, she could hardly sleep.

Kya's mind was a tricky place to be. And lately she had been stuck in it for far too long.

"-And tomorrow I have a meeting with the president. He's such an asshole! I've never met someone as stupid as him before, I mean, Tenzin's smarter than him! He's worse than Bumi and Su together and I- why you looking at me like that?" the earth bender asked looking into her lover's eyes

"I'm just admiring you. I like listening you talk, even when you're calling the president an asshole" Kya said laughing and warm hands came to cup her face, Lin's lips now curved into a sweet smile. Their lips met in a soft yet passionate kiss, setting off explosions of colour and light in Kya's chest.

Once again, tears were running down the water bender's cheeks, her heart being crushed by her own memories.

"When did I lose you?" Her voice was barely a whisper as she uttered those words, her eyes starting to feel as heavy as her heart until soon enough she was dragged into a deep sleep.
