CHAPTER TWO

10 2 5

When I wake up the next morning, I can't help but think how nice it would be to have a roommate. If I had a roommate, I wouldn't need to rely on my alarm because they would wake me up. Because my alarm has decided to stop working.

Which means I'm late for work and will have to face the devil. Oh, God.

I leap out of bed and pull on my shoes as I stick my toothbrush in my mouth and grab my bag. I didn't have time for makeup or a nice hair style, instead I just shoved a blouse and skirt on and pulled my hair into a ponytail. I didn't know the hotel policy around appearance but I doubt they would fire me for being ugly. At least I hope not.

To say that I was speeding would be an understatement. I was flying down the highway, barely visible to the other drivers. In the end I only made it to work 5 minutes late but based on the reaction of Mr Angelis yesterday, 5 minutes could be the difference between being fired or not.

Praying to the gods that I didn't believe in, I walked into the office. I was met with a dramatic sigh of relief as Nina put her hand over her chest.

"You've got to be the luckiest girl in the world. Mr.Angelis hasn't come in yet."

I give a little squeal of excitement and rush to put all of my stuff down. Maybe God was on my side.

"Alright so today I'm going to have you answering your phone and also answering the emails. I've got an event to organise and a couple of tours but I'll be around so if you need any help make sure you ask me. But you seem intelligent so I'm sure you'll be fine." Nina smiles at me and I feel warmth in my chest. She's so lovely. I wonder if we could turn our relationship into more than just work colleagues?

She wanders off into another part of the hotel and I get to work on answering the phone. It rings frequently and it serves as a constant reminder that this hotel is more prestigious than I originally perceived. Unfortunately that also meant that I had to turn a lot of angry people away. I was shocked at some of the words they threw at me but I quickly got used to it and simply replied in a firm tone.

The emails were just as hectic and surprisingly full of junk. I clicked on one of th emails and scoffed.

Angelis

Give us the money. If the full amount is not in my bank account by 7.00 pm Tuesday night, there will be consequences.

Yours truly,

Georgio

I clicked trash and continued onto my other emails. If the hotel was really under some kind of threat , if Mr. Angelis was really being threatened then this Georgio guy surely would use his personal email not the email where the receptionists have control over.

The sound of the large, golden doors opening echoed through the hotel and I looked up with a smile on my face, expecting a customer.

It wasn't

It was Mr. Angelis.

He walked in with the power of the Gods, all steely and gorgeous, power oozing from him like a waterfall. Two guards surrounded him in dark suits and sunglasses.

I kept my eyes down and focussed on my work. I always prided myself on my ability to stand up for myself and not back down from a fight. Yeah, it had gotten me in trouble many times but at least people knew not to mess with me. But Mr. Angelis scared the shit out of me.

I felt eyes staring at me and a looming presence in front of me.

"Anything to report?" His voice was so deep and smooth like velvet.

"Everything is running smoothly, sir,"I managed to say calmly.

He stood there for a minute silent and staring at me before he nodded and headed up the stairs. I breathed a sigh of relief.

"Diana!" Nina bundled up to her desk beside me, her face lit up with excitement.

"Hey, Nina."

"So, I was wondering if you wanted to hang out tonight?"

I beamed at her. "Of course!"

"Epic! How about we have drinks at my place? "

"Yeah, sure just send me the address."

"How about you just come home with me after work?" she suggested. "You can stay the night and then you can drive your car home after work tomorrow?"

I considered it for a minute. "Sounds good!"

She skipped off back to work and I couldn't keep the smile off my face. College hadn't exactly been the best for me, socially wise. I had friends, don't get me wrong but I always craved something deeper. Connections were important to me - they were what made us human after all. They was only so much small talk I could do before I went insane.

The last best friend I hadn't exactly worked out...

"Are you ready to go?" Nina's bubbly voice pulled me out of my thoughts and I looked at the time. It was already 5.

"Yeah, can you grab my stuff? I just want to do a final check of the emails."

Everything seemed to be in order until I looked through the junk mail again. Another email from Georgio, threatening some kind of consequences. I wondered briefly if I should tell Nina but it was in the junk mail so surely it would just be spam. I deleted it and walked outside to meet Nina.

"Let's get fucked up!" she squealed and I laughed.

A/N

I just made the worst cake ever. I made it with oil instead of butter and it was undercooked and the icing made it look like a frog shat all over it. Gross

Hope you enjoyed :)
