I pull up to the venue my sister was having her wedding at. As soon as I got out the car, my cousin, Shaun came up to me and pulled my tie.
"Damn nigga! Finna choke me!!" I complain as I stumbled. "Shut up, Dakota, always being so damn loud. This is your sisters wedding, show some respect and don't try to do nothing." She whispered harshly in my ear. I roll my eyes and gently push her off of me. "Mehn, I ain't gon do shit. Now if someone talking shit then yes, ima pull out the glock and someone gon get shot—"
"No one—is going to get shot." Shaun said pinching the bridge of her nose making me roll my eyes and suck my teeth again. "Fine. Whatever, but if someone tryna do shit to you don't come to me." I say with my hands up and start making my way into the venue when Shaun grabbed my arm and stopped me again. This bitch...
"And don't pull out your gun. Ever. I mean it Dakota. This is a special day for Jada and we don't need you and your antics messing it up." "Nigga you already messing me up by talkin to me and actin' like my dead momma! Leave me be, the fuck." I snatch my arm back and make my way into the venue. As soon as I entered, all eyes were on me and whispers were being spread.
"What is Dakota doing here?"
"I thought she was still in jail?"
"Jada really invited her?! I thought she was playin!"
"There's a sinner in the church, God send help."I roll my eyes and sit down in my seat. I was always the talk of the family, I mean it made sense since I was the kid who got in the most trouble, but still.
I look around the room and I see a lot of my family. But the only thing that caught my eyes were Jada's gorgeous friends. I was specifically looking at this one woman who caught my attention the minute I sat down. I smirk at her and she looked down and blushed despite her skin being brown. I shake my head and sit back, patiently waiting for my sister to come out.
As soon as everyone was done walking with their partner up to the front, it was time for Jada to come out. Everyone stood up for the bride except for myself. The music changed and in came my great uncle nasty crying with Jada on his arm. Damn, he was crying more than her.
When my sister neared towards the front she saw me and her smile was so big. I softly smile back at her and give her a thumbs up. I knew how much this meant to her, she's been wanting a wedding ever since she was 4 and I was 2, I remember being in all the weddings that she had with her Ken dolls.
She always wanted to feel like a true princess and now she was getting that and I was more than happy for her. But if this nigga goes and breaks her heart I'ma kill his ass. Literally.
My great uncle Robert helped her onto the small stage before standing in his spot and letting the wedding sermon begin.
I was already so tired of it; hearing the scripture, going through the long ass prayer, the preaching, the little traditional shit they did at every single one of our family's weddings; all of that bored me and by the end of the sermon I was asleep. That was until someone poked me on the shoulder. I slowly opened my eyes and looked up at the person who was poking me. I was about to go iffnon them when I realized it was Jada.
"You made it!" She said excitedly. I sleepily laugh and stand up, engulfing her small ass in a hug. "Hi JJ, congratulations." I say with a smile. "Thank you, Kota." She gushed. We pulled away and I looked her up and down, smiling, "I like your dress too. It's cute. Just like the one you've been dreaming off." Jada wiped her tears and turned around giving me the full view of her dress. I smile and hug her again, "beautiful, JJ, absolutely beautiful."
When we pulled away, Jada took my hand and dragged me towards somewhere without warning. "Whoa, hol up J- where you taking me—?" "to go meet someone! She's a really good friend of mine, I think you'll like her. And not just her ass."
