—————————————————-"You're late." My sharp tone wakes Devon up. But she doesn't mind. "Good morning to you too, Meg," Devon replied while yawning. I put my bag down beside her bed and gave her a harsh stare.
I moved to look at our pictures on her bedside table and saw a picture of us when we were kids. "Class starts in 30 minutes, you have to hurry up," I reminded, still looking at the pictures. I smiled and looked over to a still sleeping Devon.
I swear I love this girl but sometimes she just gets on my nerve. "Come on, Dev. Val and Scar are waiting for us outside school."
"Alright, alright. I'm awake." Dev answers sleepily. She sighed dramatically and got up to get ready. I grabbed my bag and proceeded to go downstairs to make her a quick sandwich that she could eat on the way.
You might be wondering who I am and why I'm doing these things for the grumpy girl upstairs. I'm Megan Carter. I'm a Junior in high school. I have jet black hair with bright blue eyes. I'm also 5'5 with olive skin. My relatives have always told me that I'm wasting my looks but, to be honest, I'm already happy with being called the smart girl in the group. It also somehow makes me different from my siblings. I have been friends with Dev even before we both learned how to walk. Our mothers were best friends in high school and they both agreed to have a kid in the same year. But my mother settled and got pregnant way before Dev's mother did. Hence, my two older siblings.
I hear Devon's footsteps as she ran down the stairs. I went to grab my bag and her sandwich. "Come on. I already packed you a sandwich that you could eat in the car. I'll meet you outside, yeah?" I told her. "Yeah, sure." She replied distractedly, too busy touching up her lipstick before she heads out.
I head out and walked to my Porshe 911 Turbo S in Lime Gold. I turned on the engine and smiled because of the sound it made. "Ah, I love you." I squealed while hugging the steering wheel of my car. I hear the car door open and turned to see Meg giving me the 'wtf' face. I let go of my steering wheel and straightened my back. "Err. I was just getting sleepy from waiting." I said while faking a cough. "Sure, Meg." She teased. "But I understand. I honestly wish I had your car. This looks classy as hell." She added.
I laughed and started driving to our school. Our school was just 7 mins away from her house so it's not really that inconvenient for me to drop by her house. I lowered the convertible and turned up the music.
"Neo ttaemune onmomi taolla. Neo ttaemune simjangi mongmalla. Like a fever, feVER, FEVER, FEVE-" The music suddenly stopped. "Meg, you know I love you but I just can't listen to Kpop right now," Dev said while looking at me.
I turned my head to her for a sec and saw her giving me the puppy eyes. "Alright, alright. No Kpop for today. Here's my phone, just check my other playlists." Flashing Lights by Kanye started playing through my speakers. "She doesn't believe in shooting stars. But she believe in shoes & cars." I sang. Dev continued. "Wood floors in the new apartment. Couture from the store's department." The rest of the car ride we just sang, pretending we were in a Music Video.
I turned down the volume once I see that we were nearing the gates of our school. "You don't really have to turn it down you know." Dev commented while re-applying her lipstick. "I just don't want to get in trouble," I replied distractedly, looking at my side mirror while parking. "Well, that's not fun." She shoots back, getting out of my car.
I ignored what she said and turned off my engine. "See you later, my baby." I muttered to my car before getting out. I saw Meg walking towards Val and Scar who were waiting on the stairs near the front door of the school. I followed her and met with the rest of the group. "What's up, bitches." Scar greeted. "What took you guys so long? We've been waiting for 30 mins." Val said. "Sorry, I woke up late." Meg replied sheepishly. "Come on, guys. Let's go inside."
We walked inside and every pair of eyes were on us. This was an everyday occurrence and I'm still not used to it. But Dev, Val and Scar were. Devon Williams. Blonde Hair and Green eyes. One of the tallest in our group with a height of 5'7. She's petite and the most sociable person you'll ever meet. Everyone is intimidated by her, even her weekly boyfriends. Everyone knows her as the 'It' girl in our school.
Next is Valerie Hart. The Athlete in the group. She's the soccer captain in the school and her boyfriend is the football captain. She has brown hair and brown eyes with tanned skin. She also has evident dimples on her cheeks which made her face look even friendlier.
And lastly, Scarlet Hale. The fashionista. Scarlet has her hair colored pink as of the moment. You might wonder how it is allowed and the answer for that is because her dad sponsors our school. Scar has the kindest heart, but she could also be the scariest person in the world when angered.
We stopped walking once we reached my locker. "See you later at lunch!" Scar yelled as we waved goodbye to each other. Each of us have different schedules and are in different classes. The only classes that I have with any of them are Literature, History, and Gym Class. I grabbed my materials for my classes and walked towards my first class for the day. I head towards my usual seat which was at the front. I heard the bell rang and everyone started entering the class. I opened the novel that I'm reading at the moment and pretended that I can't feel their eyes on me.
"Alright, class. Good Morning. Please take your seats." Our Algebra professor announced as he enters the class. I closed my novel and looked up to see our professor writing Rational Function on the board. "What we'll learn today is how to Find the Domain of a Rational Function. Please turn your pages to page 110."
The bell rings signaling the end of the class. I grabbed my books and headed outside. "Miss Carter. Good job today. Keep it up and you'll be saying hello to Harvard." Our professor commented when I passed him. "Thank you for your words of encouragement. I definitely will." I smiled thanking him for what he said and continued my way out.
As I was heading towards my next class. I hear a commotion in the hallway. I felt my phone vibrating in my pocket and I knew it was something related to our group. No one would really care this much about a fight in our school unless one of us is involved in it. I mean there were also the popular men but since I don't hear any fists connecting to any faces. I assume it's related to us.
"Meg, where the hell are you?! Come to Harden's locker now!" Val yelled on the phone.
