People say a smile expresses only happiness,
Failing to realize it also hides darkness.
It's so funny what a smile can hide,
Dejection and despair visible through the eyes.
Pain and sorrow that you have never seen,
Still be alive in someone's dream.
Just to hide their pain they put on a fake smile,
So they can cross a life-long mile.
Hearing the reality you might feel sorry,
We are used to it so don't worry.
Now it depends on you how you see a smile,
Which is sometimes deep, sometimes light.
