Karla's POV
"Babe, wake up now." Vics concerned voice flooded my ears, and I told him to give me five more minutes. then I looked at my phone and it was 2 in the morning.
"Vic, what the crap? let me frickin sleep."
Then vic started yelling at me in spanish, which was odd, and then he snatched me up and took off running. As he carried me down the stairs and I began to wake up, that's when I smelled it. Smoke filled my nostrils, and as vic raced down the stairs, he suddenly let out a loud curse. I looked up, and a wall of flames blocked the exit. Vic s cried out, and I made him set me down because I knew I was weighing him down. we ran back up the stairs and made it to a window- the window in our bedroom. It was so loud, the flames were popping and destroying everything in their path. Vic yelled at me over the noise to jump. I looked at him, shocked.
"VIC WE'RE 5 STORIES UP WELL NEVER MAKE IT."
I looked and the flames were engulfing everything now. our room was the only thing fairly untouched. that's when I saw the first spark hit our door, and it quickly was completely drowning in fire.
Vic looked at me, "LISTEN KARLA. IF WE STAY HERE WE'RE GOING TO DIE. THIS IS OUR ONLY OPTION. NOW GO."
Then he practically shoved me out of our window. I was falling, and I thought back to the beauty of seeing the earth while we were skydiving. I tried to pretend I was just skydiving, but as I turned my head to look back up, I saw our entire castle in flames. everything. gone. all the castle employees, who knew if they made it out. The last thing I saw was vic jump out of the window.
Vics POV.
It felt like deja vu. while I was falling I thought back to jumping off the bridge to save karla, and how similar this was. because of my weight, I quickly caught up with karla, and wrapped my arms around her stomach midair, and positioned her body on top of mine so when we fell, she would be cushioned. I waited for the impact, it felt like forever. in reality, it all happened in less than 10 seconds. the jumps, the catch, all of it. I waited, but nothing happened. I closed my eyes, but I never felt any pain. it didn't feel like we were falling any more though. I finally dared to open my eyes, and I was laying on my back, Karla tight in my arms. I tried to stand up, but was stuck.
"kar, get off me and try to walk."
She could not move, and that's when I saw, we had landed on the dirt pile the gardeners use for soil. neither of us were hurt, and we were able to get up and run. we made it to the bridge, and stood, watching our Kingdom burn to the ground. then we called 911. before long there were 15 firetrucks, ambulances, police, and more. we were rushed to the hospital, but we weren't hurt. my doctor that was treating me for the cancer came in,
"hello Mr. Fuentes, sorry about your home."
I looked down and started fidgeting with my hands.
"you were able to get the Pidricitin out weren't you?"
my stomach dropped.
"No sir, it got burned up."
the doctor's face turned white.
"Victor, that was the last supply of the Pidricitin. you won't be able to get anymore. and now you can't do the chemo radiation because the smoke inhalation would complicate things, thus putting you at even more risk."
they had told me the Pidricitin was working on the day of my check up. they said they hadn't seen anything like it before. I was going to live. now my lifesaver was gone, turned to ashes. how would I ever tell karla?
