A bit of tension...

Ridley tapped his claw against his thrown, his patience wearing thin. At this moment, the memory card was being transferred into the main computer system as well as being decoded. Eve stood on the right side of his thrown, glancing away from her files every now and then to check on him. "Must you be so tense, Sir?" Eve sighed. The space dragon huffed in response.

The silence was practically deafening.

"You know..." She began, "I remember you telling me we were going to "slaughter our way through it all" on our previous mission. Was there a chance that perhaps I... misheard you, Sir?"

Ridley's eyes shot open at what she just said! Was she really questioning him?! "Now hang on!" He growled, pointing a clawed finger at her, "The main part of that mission was to get the memory card and get out! Nothing more, nothing less!" "And we did just that. But still, we didn't really "slaughter", so to speak." Ridley scowled, turning away. He didn't appreciate her questioning his authority, but he had to admit...

She was right.

"You didn't answer my question, my lord." She said, snapping Ridley from his thoughts. He sighed, not wanting to lie to himself.

"No. You didn't mishear me." He grumbled. Eve smiled victoriously. Ridley then looked towards her inquisitively. "Why'd you ask, anyway?" "Simple. I found the ship." She replied, rather bluntly. Ridley just stared at her. "Do I even want to know why...?"

She merely looked at him as she replied,

"Because those humans know too much." She continued through her files, "They'll spread word like wildfire, possibly giving their species enough motivation to come after us." Ridley hummed, mulling over her reasoning. "I suppose you have a point," He smiled, "Humans have never been able to keep to themselves, and it's unlikely that'll change." He looked over her shoulder as she continued her work, smirking. "Do you perhaps, know where it is~?" Eve felt her cheeks getting warm as she realized how close he was, and his tone wasn't helping much either. "I-It's, well..." she stuttered, "N-not far. Just a few... thousand, miles."

"Excellent~." He purred. "Set a course for that ship. Gotta kill em off before they land." He ordered, leaning into his throne more. "...Yes sir." She replied.

That night, Ridley laid in bed, unable to sleep. He kept thinking about that mission, trying to recall what happened after he passed out. He sighed, his arm resting on his forehead. He remembered everything being rather blurry, hearing Eve speak, yet not understanding most of what she said. Her concerned yet calming tone, apologizing as she was removing the bullets, along with the slight pain that came with it. The warm, damp towel that comforted him, then hearing Eve mention he had a fever, before jabbing something into his wrist. Hearing her put things away as he laid back down. He swore he heard her humming.

He remembered grabbing her hand, before-

A blush spread across his face as he recalled that last bit. "A dream..." He thought, "A stupid fever dream." He turned onto his side, his gaze ending up at the large window that showed the glimmering void of space. He pondered for a moment, questions beginning to plague his mind.

Could he really be feeling this way?
Why now?
And why with HER?!
Out of anyone!

He curled up in his bed more, as if trying to hide from his own confusion. There's no way that he could be feeling like this. Sure, he's felt it before, but he'd rather forget those... events. At the moment, he wasn't sure what to do about it.

His eyes eventually felt heavy, the last thing he saw before drifting off was Eve, remembering her soft humming. He thought to himself,

"I wonder if she can sing...?"
