Abuja, Nigeria."Banina, what happened earlier? Can you recall what made you pass out?" Hajiya Khadijah asked curiously, looking at her daughter's lying form.
"No, Mummy... The last thing I remember was coming back from Adda Maheera's house," Banina stuttered, holding her pounding head. Hajiya Khadijah immediately sighed in relief, silently thanking Allah. Her plan had worked.
After they learned of Banina's discovery of their secret, Hajiya Khadijah and Alhaji Abdurrahman knew they needed to act. They sought help from a family friend who was a doctor. Desperate, they asked for his assistance, and of course, when there's money, half the solution is found. They wired his account, and he did what was needed, giving her a drug to make her lose certain recent memories.
"Which was last week Tuesday," Hajiya Khadijah hummed.
"It was last week? I thought I went there just yesterday," Banina replied, confused.
"Yes, my dear... You fell sick and probably don't remember. Alhamdulillah, you're better now... Come, let me help you to the bathroom so you can freshen up."
Huh! That was close!

Abuja's weather was hot, so Jalilah thought it wouldn't be a bad idea to enjoy a swim in the pool. Jalal was home, but she knew he'd reject her invitation, so she didn't bother to offer. She wore the pink bikini she and Banina once bought in a mall in Doha, layering a hijab over it before heading downstairs and calling for Safiyya.
"In case he looks for me, tell him I'm at the pool," she said, and the girl nodded.
Jalilah played her favorite song, setting her phone beside her before diving into the cool water. A few minutes later, Jalal finished his office work and came downstairs to look for her so they could go out for lunch. When Safiyya told him she was at the pool, he nodded and headed there.
Awestruck! Jalal couldn't help but stare as he saw her swimming and swaying in the water, her bikini accentuating her natural beauty. Tabarakallah Mashaa Allah. Jalilah turned and met his gaze, making her immediately sink down until only her face was visible. Jalal smirked and moved closer to the pool, shoving his hands in his sweatpants' pockets.
"Am I invited?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Um... I... I was just about to go back in," she stuttered. There was no way she'd let him in while she was only in a bikini.
"So soon?" He let out a playful smirk. "I can see you're having fun. I think it'll be even more fun if I join you, right, Jalilah?"
"What?! Um... I..." She didn't get to finish her sentence before she felt him slide into the pool, extremely close to her.
"The weather is hot today," he began.
"But do you know the interesting fact about it?" he asked, and she shook her head slowly.
"Thanks to it... I've seen someone even hotter than today's weather." His mouth curved into a playful smile.
Jalilah's cheeks nearly turned crimson from his words. "Ya Jalal..." she pouted.
"Let's swim, Jalilah." He took her hand and brought it to his lips, sending a shiver through her. He smiled at her before diving back into the water, swimming for fifteen minutes before moving closer to her.
"Why didn't you swim?" he asked, raising his brows.
"I didn't feel like it anymore."
"Did I spoil your mood?" he asked, and she shook her head no.
