Chapter 1: The Departure

The time has come. . .

"Shall we go now, Master Tony?" asked the man dressed in dark clothing, almost as dark as his jet-black, wavy hair.  His hair fell over his shoulders in cascades and his face was stark white with yellow-brown eyes.  He shifted in his throne-like chair feeling a little uneasy about the mission he was to go on.  Master Tony looked distinctively at Zerexes, ignoring the conversation going on between his twin and the woman sitting next to her.  He inclined his head towards Zerexes so only he could hear what he had to say.

"Go," he said aloud and then whispered, "And watch after Crexel making sure her duties are full-filled.  You need her and she needs you."

"But master-" protested Zerexes, but Master Tony raised a hand silencing him.

"You will need her and she will need you," he said once again.  Zerexes did not protest again but accepted the fact that he would not be doing this mission alone.  Once the mission was complete, the glory would have to be shared.  The silence between Master Tony and Zerexes became too awkward, so he decided to listen in on Master Taylor's and Crexel's conversation.

"Where will we find him?" Crexel was asking.

"The small town of Iola, Kansas in the country of the United States," answered Master Taylor as if it was the obvious answer.

"When will we be leaving?" Crexel asked looking eager.

She pulled aside her purple hair out of her eyes and tucked it behind her ears revealing just as white of a face as Zerexes'.  Not only was her hair a deep purple, but her eyes glowed dark with a hint of violet.

"Don't worry, Crexel," said Master Taylor.  "You and Zerexes will be leaving shortly." Silence took over them and now the whole room was completely still and not a sound was heard.  Inside the circular glass room was quiet; however the outside was quite the opposite.  The masters simultaneously grabbed a hold of their cross necklaces and toyed around with them.  The hour was coming closer and closer with every second.  The masters knew the journey in which they were sending their most loyalist servants out on was possibly a dangerous and definitely a long one.  The seconds ticked by slower than ever as everyone sat waiting, some patient, others not so much.  Zerexes and Crexel knew everything they needed to know.  The masters have waited twelve long years for this day to come, and now it was time to put the plan into action.

"It is midnight," announced Master Tony.

"The portal should be of access," said Master Taylor.

"Open the portal by spell and enter the Earth dimension." Zerexes and Crexel stood from their seats and took one last sweeping look around the glass room.  They had no idea when they would be seeing it again.  Crexel spoke the spell that opened the portal.  Before them appeared what looked like to be a hazy image of their destination place.  Crexel glanced back hopefully at her masters hoping they had more words to say to her, but they simply waved her on.  Hesitantly, Crexel drew a deep breath and stepped through the portal.  She was then sucked from the glass interior and thrown into the Earth dimension.  Zerexes stepped up to the portal and was about to head through when a question came to mind.  He was sure he knew the answer to the question, but just to make sure he was correct he would ask his masters.  He knew they wouldn't mind him asking.  They would be glad he asked.

"Master Tony, Master Taylor, what is the name of the kid?"  The masters smiled widely, obviously pleased with his question.

"His name is Caden McKayley," said the masters in unison.  Then, Zerexes took one last look around the room and at his masters before stepping through the portal where he would meet Crexel on the other side.
