Adrien
Given the interrupted election, it was moved to the following week to let everyone regain themselves. Adrien didn't care when it was, he still thought it was ridiculous regardless.

The day after the election fell on a Monday, so when Adrien walked into school all he heard was whispering about his father everywhere.

Did you know Gabriel Agreste never left the election?
Does he ever show emotion?
Who do you want to win?
Mayor Bourgeois tends to Chloes every need, we need someone unbiased.
Gabriel Agreste is in his house way too much to be elected.
How do you think Adrien feels? He'll be even more famous!

Adrien sighed and walked to class as discreetly as he could, not wanting to draw any more unwanted attention to himself. He went to take his usual seat next to Nino, but it was already occupied.

"You never try to understand how im feeling! You just assume things like me being in love with Chat Noir!"

"It's not like you make it easy dude! Girls are so confusing."

Alya rolled her eyes and noticed Adrien watching them with a worried look. "Sorry you had to see that Adrien, it's just with everything that happened with Chat Noir... we've been having some "relationship problems."

"I love you Alya, but you make it hard sometimes." Nino said taking her hand in his.

Alya sighed with a smile. "Here, Adrien you can take my seat now that we've worked things out."

"No it's okay," Adrien said. "You guys take some time together, I don't mind sitting with Marinette." Alya smiled a devilish smile and winked at Nino. He sat down and could have sworn he heard her whisper "worked like a charm."

He shrugged it off and flipped his notebook open to some of the notes he had started taking of his fathers recent behaviors. After he decided to run for mayor, Adrien decided to start keeping track of everything he did that seemed... out of the ordinary.

It wasn't like him to snoop in his fathers business,
but after everything with Ladybug that had been going on lately, he felt like all everyone wanted was to keep secrets from him, and he didn't know why.

The bell rang and the seat next to him was still empty. "Is anyone absent today?" Miss. Bustier asked scanning the room and letting her eyes rest on Marinettes empty seat. "I'm sure Marinette will be here any min-"

Just as she said that the door opened and Marinette walked through, her head down. "Here," she said, her voice quiet. Everyone turned to look at her, surprised by her unusually sad demeanor.

She went and sat down in her seat, not even noticing she was sitting next to Adrien. He watched her set her bag next to her and press her head into her hands.

"Marinette?" Adrien asked quietly. She turned to him, dark circles under her eyes. "I'm fine," she said automatically, as if she had already been asked that numerous times before. "Just couldn't sleep."

He was sure that that wasn't all it was, but he put a comforting hand on her shoulder and whispered, "you don't have to tell me, but I'm going to make sure you're okay," so quietly that only she could hear it. "I'm here for you Marinette."

She smiled a sad smile back at him. "T- thank you Adrien."

The school day droned on, but after what he had said, Marinette began to smile again. He did have to keep her awake a few times during class though. Her usual stutter started to make an appearance when Adrien talked to her directly- he wasn't sure if he was happy, or disappointed for that. He'd promised to drop by after school later that day to check on her, and she had merely laughed nervously and looked down at her feet.

After school, Adrien walked inside to his empty house, his footsteps echoing off the giant walls. He went to walk up the stairs and to his room, but he overheard his father talking to Nathalie, and couldn't resist listening.

"He'll thank me one day Nathalie, just because what I'm doing doesn't seem like the right thing to do now it will mean everything to him when he realizes what it's for."

"I understand sir, but you do realize a terrible price would have to be paid? What if... your son..."

Adriens eyes widened. What were they talking about? What would happen to him if his father paid the "terrible price?"

"Everything will be fine Nathalie. You will see one day when we succeed. One day we will make my dream come true, we must go through with our plan, before she gets stronger."

Before who got stronger?

"Adrien should be arriving home from school momentarily. Make sure to notify him of the schedule changes to his fencing classes."

"Yes sir."

Adrien ran to his room, praying Nathalie didn't catch him before he made it. Thankfully, she didn't. He pretended to be doing homework when he heard her knock. He exhaled in relief and told her to come in.

"Your father would like me to notify you that your fencing has changed from an hour to 30 minutes as your instructor needs the extra time to recover from his surgeries."

Adrien nodded. "Thank you Nathalie."

"You are to stay here for the remainder of the day- akuma attacks have been on the uprise lately and your father wants to keep you safe."

"But- I had plans to visit a friend today, she wasn't doing too well and I wanted to check in on her." Adrien said with a frown.

"You must obey your fathers orders. Please practice your piano." Adrien sighed. "Yes Nathalie." She nodded briskly and left the room.

"You're going to disobey your father aren't you?" Plagg asked with a smile as he munched on the fresh cheese Adrien got for him (he'd been way too impatient to wait a few weeks for it to mold).

"Adrien won't be disobeying his father," Adrien said with a smirk. "But Chat Noir will. Tonight, we'll go see her."
