Surf's Bet

Today was a gorgeous day and everyone was invited to Cloud Recess to spend time together.

They were no longer young teenagers but young adults who have learned a lot about the world and how to survive it.

On days like these, it's almost as if the world has no dangers lurking around the corners. Everything was simply peaceful.

Gusu, with it being high on the mountains, if you were to look down behind the mountain on one of its balcony, you could actually find a beach that only cultivators of the Lan Sect have access to.

Of course Lan Xichen being the Sect Leader, he got to call all the rules and allowed who he considered family members on the beach so on that beautiful day, he had invited...

Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian.

Jin Zixuan and Jiang Yanli.

Jiang Cheng and Nie Huaisang. 

And of course, his beloved, Nie Minjue.

Don't forget his uncle, Lan Qiren.

Everyone was free of duties that day and when they heard that Sect Leader Lan planned a day for them at the beach exclusively for Gusu Lan, they were not wasting this opportunity!

So now everyone (minus Lan Qiren for he had few duties left to attend to) was here and bursting with happiness!

"Sect Leader Lan, thank you for inviting us to Gusu Lan's private beach."

"Not at all Sect Leader Jiang! I understand that we have been through a lot, especially with Sun Shot campaign lingering around but on days like this, where we know nothing is going to happen, we must take advantage of it! It is rare for days like these to occur and I want all of us to have good memories of each other. Especially now that we are going to be family by some degree.

Today seems especially great for playing in the water!"

Everyone from the Jiang Clan beamed at that statement! It had been so long since they've played in the ocean! They were used so used swimming in the Yunmeg lakes that having a different body of water was a great change for them!

However, the Nies and Jin Zixuan had hesitation on their faces, they lived nowhere near any body of waters and were not strong swimmers.

Well, Huaisang and Zixuan were not strong swimmers.

Minjue had too much pride in himself to say that he had never learnt how to swim.

"Jiang Cheng, shidi! Race ya to the ocean!"

"Wei Wuxian, you cheater! You got a head start!"

Everyone watched with anticipation of who was going to win as the Jiang Clan raced to enter the ocean.

Jiang Cheng managed to catch up to Wei Wuxian and tackled him down before he could enter the water leaving Jiang Yanli to quickly catch up and win the competition.

"Ah hah! The water is perfect boys! Stop fighting and come in!"

Not even a moment later did everyone hear two huge splashes as the Jiang brothers entered the ocean completely soaking their sister.

"Would you boys like to head into the water with the Jiang family?"

Only Jin Zixuan and Nie Huaisang followed in slowly.

"My love?"

"I'd rather stay on the shore with you"

It was a romantic scene as everyone watched Nie Minjue snake his hand around Lan Xichen's waist and pulled his lovers hand to his lips to softly kiss them.
