Nadia’s POV
After everything was settled, we ate dinner. Everything looked and smelled amazing, but it tasted even better. Merfolk don’t cook, so the flavors were very interesting. Apparently, humans can’t eat raw fish anyway. I still don’t see that as a bad thing, because raw fish don’t taste nearly as good.
When we were done with dinner, Jocelyn and I excused ourselves and went into town.
“If you’re going to be a human, you’ll need to look the part,” she explained
I nodded and followed her into shops to buy shoes, skirts, shirts, scarves, dresses, anything I would need. When we had finished and Jocelyn had basically spent all of her allowance on me, we went down to the beach and sat on our rock.
“Are you going to…you know, miss it?” She asked, breaking the silence.
“Miss what?”
“Your family.”
I looked at her and smiled.
“Well, I can live without them just fine.” I reached out and put my hand on her cheek. “It’s not exactly the same story with you.”
She grinned and kissed my hand, making me blush.
“I love you.” She said sincerely, her soft green eyes looking up into mine.
She’s said it before, but my heart still pounds in my chest every time.
“I love you too.” I smiled, putting my hand on the side of her neck.
