Hello fellow traveller,
I'm glad that you're taking time out of your day to read my fanfic.
What served as inspiration for me writing this? well... have you noticed how in the game, you could get a character in your party before meeting them in the story?
If that has happened to you; good! you'll get it.
If not; then let me elaborate.
Getting a character in your party would mean you've got two of the same character: the one in your party and the NPC in the cutscenes and overworld.
In Inazuma, Kujo Sara and the Raiden Shogun can be party members. They're also the antagonists of the Inazuma section in the story.
So as of update 2.1, there's a chance to get Sara or the shogun to square off against... themselves. This undoubtedly causes ludo-narrative dissonance. Obviously, it would be weird to have the big baddies do a heel turn the moment they join your team but, that's what I find interesting.
I've always thought: "what happened to make them want to join your side?" and "what happens to the story if they follow you around as you play through the quests?" that is what I wanted to explore. I thought the shogun herself would be the most interesting to write about (sorry Sara) since she's well... the shogun. Her beliefs would be the most compromised if she joins you. She's the one who's ordering the Vision Hunt Decree and you're the one who's going to stop it.
As I though about writing this, I both wanted to push the limits of what I can add to the story but also follow closely to the story of the Inazuma chapter.
There's a lot that I want to share but it would be best if I saved it until the story of The Raiden Shogun has reached its end.
Writing this has been on and off. I have many other things I need to keep track of in my life, so updates might be sparse. Hopefully the wait won't take an eternity.
Anyways, I won't hold you here any longer.
Please continue on. (and try not to cringe too hard)
