The alarm went off. Damn 3am. Never gets any easier. As usual the episodes of last night's REM are running so vividly through her mind. Dreams have always been a constant companion since Evonne was very young. Her earliest dream remembered was from about 4 years old. Still to this day the memory is as vivid as last night's episode.
Just a dream some would say, but Evonne knew it was something more. Too much emotion. Too vivid to just mean nothing. The faces of strangers from her dream. Strangers in her memories but in the dream she knew them very personally. Something so familiar and comforting.
A large portion of her dreams centered around her grandmother's house. A place she spent many days in as a child. A place where she would lie down with her grandpa to take a nap after lunch. He came home every day for lunch with his babies. Then we would stretch out across his bed. An open window would let the soft breeze blow across us until we fell asleep.
But of all the good memories of this home the dreams never include those loved ones of her past. Just another oddity of her dream history. Something she was determined to figure out. At times during the day Evonne will feel that soft summer breeze blow softly across her face. No wind blowing, no open windows, just the sweet smell of petunias carried in the air.
But the stranger in her dream was so very familiar. Names were never used. And he was tall with broad shoulder and dark hair. The words they spoke were never spoken aloud. Always smiles and warm embraces. Always watching from third person. Luke watching a movie about herself but feeling the emotions first hand. Who was this stranger? Memories of a past life or perhaps a lost soul stuck here and somehow attached to Evonne. How do you find someone you don't know? No name. But she knows that if ever she were to meet him face to face it would take her breath away.
Someday, for now reality is that it is time for work. But the stranger in Nannies house is always with her.
