Epilogue

I pouted my lips while reading the book. While she is just looking at me, watching my reaction after reading it all. I looked at her and pouted my lips which made her chuckle.

"Don't you like it, hmm?" she asked. I rolled my eyes and flipped the page to look at the acknowledgement page. I smiled upon seeing my name there.

"I liked the story, but I don't like that Aldrich with you," I frowned more. She just chuckled and shook her head.

"What did I write at the first page of the book?" she asked, nangingiti. I bit my lower lip and blinked my eyes. Limot ko kaya naman ay tiningnan ko ulit.

"This book is a work of fiction. Names, characters, places, and incidents are products of the author's imagination and were just written in a dramatic art." I read. She smiled and pinched my cheek.

"Don't be jealous, Vince," Shane whispered in my ear with a hint of mockery so I glared at her softly.

"Hindi ako nagseselos, ah?" I said. "Kung may dapat magselos dito, ikaw 'yon kasi ibinili ko si Marra ng kopya ng libro mo," I saw the hint of surprise in her eyes but she just smiled.

"You can't make me jealous, actually, that helped pa nga, eh. You just added the sales of my book," nakangiting sabi niya kaya napailing na lamang ako. 

Still the same old mature Shanel Breyanna.

I pulled her waist closer to me, she leaned her head on my shoulder, sniffing a bit so I smiled.

I watched her signing the books she worked hard for. Libo-libong libro ang na-print ng publishing company na pinirmahan niya dahil maraming nag-preorder, and Shane is signing it all.

Rewriting Fate

'Yon ang title ng libro.

Actually, she lied when she labeled it as a fictional story. Hindi naman talaga ito fiction'g maituturing dahil totoo ang iba rito.

Like Aldrich, being the real Louis Adams Buenaventura, Aldrich killing Shane's parents and also Eycee's Dad, Aldrich shooting Kuya Leo to death, Aldrich being whipped of my girl, Zeus being innocent, Lexy being Aldrich's sister, and Eycee being commanded by me.

I was shot that day, but thankfully, I survived. It was exactly six years since that happened, and justice was already served. I graduated in my Law school and already had my license. While Shane is already a licensed dentist, she has her own clinic in the city, near the CGOH. And in spite of her busy schedule, she still managed to finish a book.

"Do you want to sleep?" tanong ko dahil kitang-kita ko ang pagod sa mga mata niya nang makauwi kami sa mansion nila. Ate Shanty's nowhere to be found, Ate Sharly is in a family trip in Romblon. Kami lang ang narito at ang iilang maids.

"Hmm," Shanel nodded her head. I smiled and spread my arms, I was seated on their couch. Nakangiti naman siyang tumabi sa akin. She leaned her head on my shoulder again so I wrapped my arms on her to keep her warm.

"How did you come up with that story, Shane? I swear, that story is so good," I said. She giggled and played with my fingers.

"I wrote that story to serve as an inspiration and to give information," she answered. She heaved a deep sigh, "Not all people around you are real, I know alam na 'yan ng halos lahat, but they won't expect people turning that awful just because of insecurities and love. That must serve as a lesson."

"Hmm, ano pa?" I asked, brushing her soft, smooth, fragrant, and wavy hair.

"I want to have my revenge on Aldrich, he doesn't deserve the freedom. Gusto kong magsilbing aral ang lahat ng nangyari sa buhay ko para sa iba," I smiled and kissed her temple. "And also, to let them know that happy ending isn't something conventional for everybody. Hindi lahat ng tao ay mae-experience 'yon, because some things were just meant to be together."

"Just like us?" tanong ko. She smiled, revealing her small dimple on her cheek.

"Just like us."

"But I want to contradict your belief, Shane," I whispered carefully. She raised her right eyebrow which made me smile a bit. "Everyone in this world end up happily. That may not be in love, but in another aspect of life. Maraming bagay ang pwedeng maging basis ng happy ever after, Shane. Financially? Pwede. Emotional stability? Pwede. Acceptance from those people you sought for? Pwede. Because each one of us, in our life, attain one of the greatest treasures we could ever receive that others don't. And that serves as our happy ending, attaining those." I looked at her. Her eyes were half closed, getting sleepy. But her lips has a beautiful carve of smile. 

"I love you," she mouthed. I smiled and kissed her forehead at this time. 

"I love you, sleep na. Tomorrow will be a long day for you," I whispered. She nodded and put her head on my shoulder properly. Her warmth is making my system calm. 

My Shanel deserves a happy ending, as well, and that is the purpose of my survival.

No matter what she does will always be the most beautiful thing in the world for me. And in now and forever... she will always be the most beautiful person in my eyes.

I took the ring from my pocket while her head's on my shoulder. She's already sleeping so I just slid the ring on her finger with a smile. Tumulo ang luha ko na agad kong pinunasan. I also pursed my lips inside and sniffed quietly.

What happens to our future may be beyond our control, but I will never stop striving to achieve my plans and goals with her.

Shanel Breyanna Cortez will marry me, we'll have kids, we'll be happy for the rest of our lives after the tragic past we had.

She lost her memory, I almost died. But we both survived, after going through all of that, we deserve this...

I love her, and I will always love her. She's the flower I am taking care of in my garden, and I will do my best in order to protect her from those plant bugs that will destroy her.

No one will tear us apart ever again, even death, even anyone.

And if reincarnation is really real, I wish to be reincarnated over and over again as a person who loves her and cherishes her. Because I am made for her, no words could describe my unconditional and unending love for her.

And I am glad to announce to you that with all these hardships we've undergone... we will now live happily ever after.
