CHAPTER 19

THERE IS STILL HOPE

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.”

― Martin Luther King Jr., A Testament of Hope: The Essential Writings and Speeches

Later, they were shown where they could sleep; there were no open rooms so they must sleep on the cold stone floor. The three of them were given a room, which they shared with a few other men. Raenaslee placed her few belongings in a corner and Legolas and Gimli placed theirs nearby. Gimli and Legolas then leaved. Raenaslee was all alone in the room and she lied down, then she heard someone who needed her help. She realized that it was Aragorn. Raenaslee knew it was him, and then she went off for him by separating her spirit from her body.

She found him at the riverbank lay helpless.

Raenaslee: Aragorn, rise up, I’m here, we need you, rise up.

Aragorn: (opened his eyes) Raenaslee.

Raenaslee: (smiles) we will meet later.

She disappeared with a smile on her face for knowing that the king was still alive.

Later, when Aragorn returned,

“You are the luckiest, the canniest, and the most reckless man I ever knew! Bless you laddie.” Gimli said as he embraced Aragorn. Then they went inside to talk to Théoden.

“Le ab-dollen (You’re late.)” Legolas said a hint of a smile on his lips.

“You’re making us worry” Raenaslee said with a voice of anger but her face is happy.

Then they took in the sight of Aragorn all beat up, his shoulder was bleeding. Then they said, “You look terrible.” They began to laugh.

“I have something for you; it is a pity you almost lost it.” Legolas said solemnly. Aragorn looked at him and Legolas handed him the Evenstar pendant from Arwen.

Aragorn just looked at it, “Hannon lle. (Thank you). And thank you Raenaslee. Thank you, you both.”

He hurried to the King and they followed him.

“A great host you say.” Théoden stated questioningly.

“All of Isengard is emptied.” Aragorn said.

“How many?” Théoden asked.

“10,000 strong at least.” Aragorn said.

“10,000?” Théoden asked in astonishment.

“It is an army bred for a single purpose, to destroy the world of men. They will be here by nightfall.” Aragorn said.
