Chapter 5: Banishment of the Fuzzy Feeling

Natsu and Lucy walked to school in silence.

"Natsu you've seriously been acting weird all week. Are you sure your okay?" Lucy quietly said.

"GAH LUCY I SAID IM FINE." Natsu blurted causing Lucy to jump.
Natsu cringed in embarrassment.

"Um well... I've just got a lot on my mind that's all." He replied sheepishly.

Lucy immediately became interested.

"Oh my gosh are you going to tell Lisanna you love her?!!?" She squealed.

"What no! Why would I do that!?" He said sounding appalled.

"You mean you don't love her?" Lucy asked confused.

Natsu blushed and scratched his head, biting the left corner of his lip; a bad habit he's had every time he was hiding something.

"Not...Exactly?" He said not reassuring at all. Lucy's eyes went as big as plates. "Really...? I always thought you did."

Natsu shrugged.

"Well maybe I used to but, I don't know something's changed I guess..." He confessed. Lucy eyed him and leaned closer taking a good scan of his face.

"What are you hiding from me?" She immediately scowled.

Natsu adverted his eyes and walked faster, hoping to leave her behind.
"Mn , nothing."

Lucy ran up to him and grabbed him by the shoulder.
"You liar! Your biting your lip and refusing to look at me! You so have something you don't want to tell me!" Lucy snapped with her hands on her hips.

Should he tell her? Lucy was his best friend, who knows maybe in the end she could help with the whole predicament.
Plus she was way more experienced than he was when it came to this sort of thing.

Natsu sighed and decided to give in.
"Okay I do have feelings for someone but it's not Lisanna. I mean I have feelings for her too but well you know wha-" Natsu realized he was rambling and shut up.

Lucy giggled.

"Okay so into the point...Who's the lucky girl?" She said slyly elbowing him.

"Erm.. " Natsu shifted uncomfortably. He wanted to get away and just run to school but he knew Lucy wouldn't let him off the hook.

"Oh so your making me guess are you?" She smiled. "Alright I can roll with that."

Lucy began naming off girls she knew, receiving a "No" response from every one.

"Really? Then how about Erza?" She asked.

Natsu literally trembled.

"No way in hell. Too scary for me."

Lucy laughed nervously. "Well she is the school council president."

"Wait. It's not me is it? Listen I'm sorry if it is but I see you as a little brother or maybe even a pet more then anything like th-" Lucy's brain began to override.

"Relax, it's not you..." Natsu said quietly with a chuckle.

"WAIT AND WHAT DO YOU MEAN LIKE A PET WHO THE HOLY HELL DO YOU TAKE ME FOR??!?" He snapped as soon as realization kicked in.

"I don't know maybe like a lost puppy or something?" Lucy shrugged causing Natsu's jaw to drop.

Lucy sighed. "This is impossible I've named off every girl in the school."

Natsu innocently sighed. "Well I guess it can't be helped oh well let's go to school."

Lucy was being tugged by Natsu when she stopped once again.

"Wait Natsu are you... Are you, do you maybe swing the other way around? Is that why you won't tell me?" She stated looking Natsu straight in the eye, as if she could see right through him.

Oh shit.

Natsu put his books in his locker and frowned. He hated his life.

He looked to the right to see Lucy talking with Loke, and Lisanna getting a little bit friendly with Laxus, this time though it was different, Natsu didn't feel that hot poker feeling through his chest.

"Hey Strawberry." A voice said beside Natsu.
He rapidly turned, coming out of his trance, to see the Prince of the school. Ew.

"Sup Snowflake?" He replied cockily.

Gray raised an eyebrow.

"Snowflake?"

"Yeah you make fun of my hair I make fun of your skin. We're even."

Gray rolled his eyes and smirked.

"Ooh I'm flattered. Honestly I don't think you cared so much." He leaned in closer.

Natsu started blushing. Damn him.

"Do you mind! There's this thing called personal space you should try it sometime!" Natsu struggled trying to desperately push Gray away from him.

"Careful your touching my chest again. You really like me don't you?" Gray laughed.

Natsu scowled quickly removing his hands. He knew Gray was just poking fun at him. Trying to get on his nerves. After all he IS a bully. And Natsu was the nerd.

It would have never worked.

"Actually. I . HATE . YOU ." Natsu snapped.

"So from now on just leave me alone. It's better this way." He said regaining his posture and slowly walking away.

Although he would be lying to himself if he said he wasn't on the verge of tears.
