I was sitting in a chair, reading Gone with the Wind. I heard a slight shuffle of feet and the screech of the chair's feet being pulled back. As I looked up from my book, I heard a few more of these noises.
"Hi, Robyn." Cole waved. "I didn't think you'd mind if we'd come sit at your table." He gestured to his friends.
"No, I don't mind." I replied and got to my feet. "I was about to leave anyway. Have a good night, guys."
Cole looked disappointed. "Oh." He said and got up as well. I sighed mentally. "The library is about to close...would you like to walk home with us?"
I shook my head. "I'm good." My house was across from Cole's, but I guess I'd have to take a different route to avoid them. I didn't like to talk to kids from school. They always had something mean to say. "I have to make a stop somewhere."
"Okay, but when you don't have to do anything, you can always walk with me, okay?"
I nodded, checked out my book, and left.
"Bye, Robyn!" He called after me, but I didn't reply.
