Life of a Were-cat
Beep Beep Beep
I slammed my hand down on the alarm clock and looked up. "Monday. Yea," I muttered. I got up and began to stretch. I do that a lot, it's one of the characteristics of a were-cat. You would have to study me very carefully to even tell the difference between me and a human, though. If you're human you see a petite, shy girl hiding behide black hair. If you're lucky you get a glimpse of emerald eyes. But most humans don't even bother looking at me.
"Luna!" Mom shouted up the stairs, "If you want anything to eat this morning you'd better come and get it before the boys eat it all!" Before I head downstairs I'd better tell you about my family so you don't go into shock when you see them all. My parents were only children, so when they got married they decided to buy a huge 6 bedroom 4 bath house and fill it with children. First came my older brother Henry, who is 19. Next came the twins, Sam and Darren, who just turned 18. Then came the only girl (besides Mom) and the baby of the family me. I'll be turning 17 on December 12. Four years ago my aunt and uncle died in a car crash, leaving us with their four boys: Daniel - 15, Jesse - 13, Carter - 9, and Fabian - 7. It gets a bit overwhelming sometimes, so Mom has a seperate room for her art and Dad has seperate office in the backyard. If you hadn't already noticed, there's a lot of us, so it takes a lot of money to feed and clothe us. Thankfully that's something we have a lot of. We're rich, but not snobby about it. We don't have a maid or butler and Mom doesn't approve of nannies.
"Luna! Last call for breakfast!" Mom shouted again.
"I'm coming!" I replied racing down the stairs and running straight into Darren.
He smirked and looking at my bedhead said, "Nice hair".
"Right back atcha."
"Oh, I know." Darren is a little conceited. He's one of the hotties (Ewww!) at school and thinks that everything about him is perfect.
I continued down the stairs and walked into the kitchen.
"Good morning, sweetheart! Ready for another day of education?" asked Mom.
"Mom, please don't try to be sarcastic. You're not any good at it."
She gave a hmph and continued whatever she was doing.
"Hey Luna! Did you hear about the new guy starting at school today? I heard he was quarterback on his football team." said Sam, the football junkie.
"Noooo. Why would it matter to me?"
"His last name is Barren. Looks like he'll be sitting in front of you."
"Ugh! Stupid alaphabetically assigned seats!" I muttered. You might be wondering why I'm upset. You see, I try to stay away from the public eye and with him being the new guy he'll have all the girls all over him. Right in front of me. Yea.
I grabbed a bowl of cerreal and ate quickly. As soon as I was done I ran back up the stairs to pick out today's clothes. I finally decided on some gray skinny jeans, dark purple babydoll top, and some black ballet flats. I finished by put some lip gloss on and grabbed my bookbag.
"I'm leaving! If anybody wants a ride you'd better be in the car by the time I get to there!" I shouted.
Daniel ran down the stairs and hopped in my silver 911 Turbo.
Then we left for another day in school. Oh joy.
