Felicia's POV
"Noooooooo!" I screamed. Immediately doctors rushed in and clustered around my mother.
"Come on, sweetie, you have to go" one of the nurses said, taking my arm.
"No!" I shouted back at her, ripping my arm away from her grasp. "I'm not leaving her."
She took my arm again and practically dragged me out the door. As soon as I was out she shut it and locked it, preventing me from going in again. I put my back against the wall next to the door and slid down the wall til I was sitting on the floor. Tears started running down my face as I heard the doctors urgently shouting to each other. I could hear them trying to revive my mother. This went on for about two minutes. Then everything stopped. The only sound that could be heard was the quiet mumbling of the doctor's voices.
One of them opened the door and I shot up out of my spot on the floor. He had a grave look on his face. This was not good.
"I'm truly sorry to say this, but, your mother didn't make it. I'm sorry." He said.
Immediately my heart dropped. I turned around and ran out the door and into the waiting room. I looked around, my vision blurred by tears, and eventually made out the form of a door. I sprinted for it and ran outside. I could hear footsteps running behind me.
"Felicia!" Zach yelled. I just shook my head and kept running.
Since he was faster than me he quickly caught up. In that moment I slipped and fell but he caught me before I could hit the ground. He brought me into a hug and held me as I cried. We stayed this way for a good 10 minutes until he picked me up and placed me in the car.
By the time we arrived at my house, I calmed myself down so that only an occasional tear slipped down my cheek. He brought me inside and set me on the couch.
Zach's POV
"Do you need anything?" I asked as I set her down on the couch. She shook her head no.
"You know?" She said quietly. "I've only known for about a day, yet, you've been so nice to me. Why?"
"That's what a friend is for." I said, secretly hoping she was more than just a friend.
Tears came to her eyes as she began to speak again. "I've never really had a true friend before. Thank you" she said.
"No problem. I know we just met an all, but do you wanna stay at my house? I have a feeling that you don't really want to stay here." I asked.
"She nodded her head appreciatively. "Let me just grab my clothes" she said.
In less than 15 minutes she was back downstairs with a small bag in hand.
"Ready?" I asked.
"Ready"
Then I realized I hadn't had my car this whole time and I had just been driving hers.
"Umm...can we take your car? I just remembered that I don't have mine." I asked.
She nodded, went into the kitchen, grabbed her keys, then came back and handed them to me.
"Thanks" I said.
We hopped in the car and drove to my house which was only about 5 minutes away.
"Here we are." I announced.
We walked in and I showed her to the guest room.
"Umm...if you don't mind, I think I'll just go ahead and go to bed now." She said.
"Thats fine. If you need anything, my room is directly across from yours." I told her.
"Ok. Goodnight. And again, thanks for everything." She said sincerely.
"No problem."
Brittany's POV
I walked into the guest room which was nicely furnished. I set my stuff on the floor and flopped onto the bed. I laid there staring at the ceiling. A million questions were going through my mind. What would I do now? Where would I live? Eventually my eyes closed and I fell, exhausted, into a deep sleep.
