Ridley hurried into the Main Computer room, Eve not far behind. Before she could follow inside, however, the space dragon raised his hand in front of her. "I need you to stay out here." He ordered, "This is... a bit more personal." The doors slammed shut behind him, locking up from the other side. Eve huffed, annoyed that a part of her plan was thrown out the window. She then heard a deep chuckle from one of the soldiers guarding that very door. "Something humorous, soldier?" She asked coldly. The grunt, an older gentleman, chuckled once more.

"It been a while since I've seen that look in a mans' eyes."

She glared at him, "Are you insulting your own leader?" He held a hand up. "O' course not ma'am. He's done too much for me an' my family. Be a death wish on my part." Eve looked back at the door, curiosity soon taking over. "...What look did he have, exactly?"

He rested against his spear, looking away in thought.

"The look of a man, who found somethin' worth livin' for." Eve stayed silent, listening intently.

"Y,know, Lord Ridley," He continued, "Has been through many trials in his life. Not much has been spoken 'bout it though. Heh, practically taboo nowadays. But ever since he became leader, his gaze has become empty. As if, all emotion had been drained." The old soldier shook his head and sighed, a look of pity on his wrinkled and scarred face. "He may be a monster, ma'am... but even monsters feel pain."

"Uh... I think you've had too much of your "homemade booze"." The second guard said. The elder pointed a clawed finger at him, "Eh, screw you! You 'aven't been here as long as I have!" As they argued, Eve pondered over what he said. What did he mean, "found something worth living for"? She then realized that she'd seen that look before.

It was the day he...

No. No, that didn't mean anything. He was just weakened.

She shook it off, looking back at the door. She could vaguely hear the beeps from Ridley's computer screens. She couldn't help but wonder, "What's he doing in there...?"

three hours later...

Eve paced back and forth, her patience beginning to grow thin. At this point, she was ready to bang her fist on the door and ask him what he could possibly be doing in there that's taking so long! Just then a guard, burly in appearance, walked towards her, "General? Someone's been trying to contact you-" Eve grabbed his throat, pulling his face towards hers!

"Don't you ever pry through my personal belongings again! Unless you want your throat ripped open...?" She whispered harshly. The soldier gagged from her tightening grip, "M-my apologies,-ACK! Ma'am! It-it won't happen again!" She let go of his throat, saying nothing as she went to her quarters.

"Quite a woman, eh?" Piped the older one, a large, toothy smile on his face. The burly guard massaged his neck as he coughed, "I'll say. Wonder what the commander sees in her?" The first chuckled,

"Somethin' worth livin' for..."
