Chapter 2: The Nightmare

Adam's POV

"Anna, it’s not what you're thinking. It wasn-"

"Enough! " She shouted while glaring at me with her teary eyes.

"Stop the car." Aniya at muling ibinaling ang tingin sa labas ng front door glass ng sasakyan.

Nagpatuloy lang ako sa pagmamaneho like I didn't hear anything.

I understand her. I made a mistake and hurt her a lot. But I just can't give her up like that.

"Let's go home. Okay?" Pakiusap ko habang pasulyap-sulyap sa kanya. Trying to stay calm and clearheaded.

Tears rolled down her cheeks while still looking outside. Parang pinipiga sa sakit ang puso ko. What should I do?

"Anna..."

"Bingi ka ba? I said stop the car!" She shouted at me furiously then suddenly grabbed the steering wheel, forcing me stop the car. Nagpaliko-liko ang aming sasakyan sa madilim na daan na aming tinatahak .

"Don't do this!" I tried to take control of it and stop her ngunit napakahigpit ng hawak niya sa manibela.

Patuloy na nagpaliko-liko ang aming sasakyan. Ilang sandali pa ay isang maingay na busina ng sasakyan ang aking narinig at nang ito'y aking lingunin, ang headlight ng isang malaking truck ang tumambad sa aking paningin nang biglang....

  I woke up and felt the excruciating pain accross my body. I fought myself to stay awake kahit na parang wala na akong lakas na natitira pa. I could hardly see everything and smelled blood in the air. My heart almost sank thinking what could have happened to Anna. It felt eternity just turning my head upang lingunin siya....

Oh no! Her head is stuck in the broken and bloody front door glass on her right! She's also bleeding a lot! My Anna...

I panicked and feared for everything. Pilit kong ikinilos ang aking katawan upang siya'y maabot at makausap ngunit masyado na akong nanghihina.

When my trembling hands reached hers...

"A-Anna, p-please h-hold on."

I told her while gasping for some air to breathe then gently squeezed her hand.

"S-She's... L-"

"Anna!!!" Sigaw ko nang ako'y magising at halos mapatalon na sa aking kama. Pawis na pawis at malakas ang kabog ng dibdib. Hinihingal kong pinagmasdan ang aking paligid. It's the same nightmare I had for 6 years!

Yes, it's been 6 years, yet I still dream of it every night. It's been 6 years, but I still couldn't remember what Anna faintly said before I lost my consciousness during the incident.

I calmed my mind and breathing then looked at my phone to check the time. It's 3:05am. Good! Nagpatango-tango ako. 3 hours of sleep? Not bad! I was thinking what to do since hindi na naman ako makakatulog ulit nito.

I checked my business emails then let go a heavy sigh. My eyes are tired and so as my body, but I'm already used to this. At least I have slept a little.

Then suddenly, I heard a loud knock on my door. It must be Mom. Did I wake her up?
