Kayama made her way back to her office. Once there, she continued watching videos of her in action and looking up any other information regarding her. Two hours later, All Might peeped his head into the doorframe. "Good afternoon Mrs. Midnight! You've been catching up on your past?"

"I sure have," said Midnight, "I am still freaking out over what I was capable of!" All Might smiled back, "Well that's nice. I gotta take you back home, I'll be sure Mr. Aizawa can pick you up tomorrow so you can learn how to harness that power of yours!" "Yes sir!" Kayama excitedly responded, already looking forward to tomorrow.

She followed All Might to his old sedan and sat in the passenger seat. As the car started, All Might tried to turn the radio on, his car was so old it didn't even have an aux cable. He asked, "So, what kind of music do you like?" "I don't know," Midnight said, "I can't even remember what I like and what I don't like". All Might looked down for a second, feeling even more empathy for her.

"Maybe you'll get a feel for it." All Might said as he got it working. Before he could say anything else, loud rap music started blaring "LA-LAMBORGHINI, LA-LAMBORGHINI! I KNOW YOU SEE ME IN MY LAMBORGHINI!"

Midnight was almost covering her ears, feeling her heart skip a beat. Even All Might was struggling to turn it down, almost veering off the road while doing so.

He managed to change the station to slow country music. "Oh, I love this song!" All Might cried as he started singing along. "You know, I think this might send people asleep faster than my quirk." Kayama quipped. Seeing that she wouldn't join in, he decided to switch to another station, which started playing some smooth jazz, "Ok, how about this?".

Nemuri listened for a second, while she hadn't heard that much music ever since she had been restored, this music felt comforting, soothing, and oddly nostalgic. It felt like it was taking her far back to a place she had never experienced, but was strangely familiar. All Might could tell she was happy, and kept it playing for her.

As the music continued, Midnight asked All Might, "Hey, it's cool that I have such an awesome quirk, but is there a reason why I am learning how to harness it this soon?" All Might explained that in Mustafu, Japan, a villain could strike at any given moment, so it is important for heroes to be prepared for anything. Midnight understood, now aware of the strong responsibility that came with her position and the urgency to get her life back to normal as fast as possible, especially when it came to protecting the students at U.A. Academy.

Midnight was eventually dropped off and ready to rest after such a long day. However, she was still curious about her past, so she decided to do some poking around. She looked around, but could not find anything of real value, just bottles of wine, unfinished dishes, and some old pictures of her with a few fellow heroes.

When she decided to check her bedroom, she started searching through her night stand. Most of the drawers had old receipts, dusty old books, and post it notes with do-to reminders such as, "Staff meeting at 9:00 Thursday", "Clean out your bed stand", and "Deposit paycheck at the bank after work". As she browsed through the drawers to find something of significance, she found a diary with "Nemuri Kayama" written with glittery pink ink in cursive.

She opened it with the first page reading "Freshman Year at Isamu Academy High". Midnight instantly perked up, "This might hold the key to solving some of the mysteries about my past" she thought. She flipped the page and read the first entry.

Today I am starting my first day at U.A. Academy High School. While this is a huge change for me, and I do miss my family dearly, I am very excited to see where this year will take me and to learn how to be an amazing hero. I am in Class 1C. Everybody seems so friendly, even though my quirk does seem a little bit strange to them. The teacher is also very interesting. His name is Mr. Kondo, hero name, Magnetarms. His quirk allows his arm to attract any kind of metal object. I hope for this to be the start of an exciting school year!

Midnight finished reading the entry and was a little intrigued. While it did not reveal a whole lot, at least it was leading somewhere. She flipped ahead a few pages and found a sketch of what her costume looked like. It was an unzipped jacket with no sleeves, a belt, large boots, a pair of pointy sunglasses, and provided minimal coverage.

April 12

Today we have received our hero outfits. My outfit came almost exactly as planned, but not quite what everyone was expecting. When I stepped out in my costume for the first time, people were doing one of two things. Some of them, mainly the other girls, were turning away while blushing, I think my outfit was rubbing them the wrong way. Most of the boys were staring at me, obviously attracted to me and my costume. While I do not mind some attention from boys, as I have been receiving it since middle school, this felt different. Even my teacher was concerned about my outfit, but I stayed confident.

The purpose of my outfit is to not only have enough space for my quirk to work, but also for the element of surprise. Some villains will definitely be caught off guard, until I pull the rug out from under them by putting them under the effects of my quirk. Also, being in a dominatrix-like outfit makes me feel in control of the situation.

I haven't told anybody this yet but, my outfit is based off of a villain from this superhero show I used to sneak at night when my parents were asleep. She was a seductive cat burglar who always had jazz music playing whenever she was on camera. She only worked at night and had a long whip she would use as a weapon. Her name was "Lady of the Evening" but everybody just called her "Lady Midnight".

As Kayama was reading this she was surprised. What were the odds that the inspiration for her hero costume and persona came from a villain she watched on tv? Nonetheless, she kept on reading,

I admired her because she would not let anyone step all over her, especially men. She knew what she wanted and would do anything in her power to get it. And above all, she did not give a damn about her bad reputation. She is exactly what I want to be, a go-getter who lets nothing stand in her way. I felt weird for admiring the villain at first, but that was because she was a tough, no-nonsense, independent girl, not some little princess like the main heroine.

The entry ended and Midnight stopped a minute to comprehend everything she had just read. She started thinking, "Was this really what I was like? Did any of my current peers know me at this time? And how did my school approve this outfit?"

She also wondered, "How can I truly be like my past self?" She decided to put those questions to rest, she had another big day tomorrow and was in the mood to get some well deserved sleep.

Editor's Note: Hi everybody and welcome back to Forget Me Not. This chapter took me a while to write as the subplot of Kayama getting ahold of her diary was not a part of my original synopsis. I got the idea for it while at the beach about a month ago and figured that it would help provide a lot of insight to her past and even reveal a pretty big plot twist later on (but you'll have to wait and see what it is.) The next chapter is mostly typed up and from here on, I plan for there to be a new chapter every Wednesday. While the story is still going on, I would like to know what you think of it so far, what I can improve upon, and what you think will happen next. Please leave any kind of feedback, I'd love to hear your thoughts. I will leave you off with this, the next chapter will provide a pretty big change of pace, along with a new "friend" showing up. Until then, take care!
