The Awakening of the Awakener

Part 17

XiFan could not understand why it was that his Disciple was antagonizing the two powerful masters. Perhaps he was trying to buy time? For what though? They had sent everyone else up the mountain. Nobody would be coming to help them, and they were laying their lives down to try and give the others a larger head start so that someone could hopefully live. Yet, here was Lu Ping, mercilessly antagonizing them when he does not even have any martial ability! Although XiFan may guess otherwise, even if he did he would not have had the ability, or the time to practice any of it. It was a bold assumption to be going up against the Mountain and Sea gang with just his words. Bold, and stupid. They would murder him where they stood and without hesitation.

Then, he found himself confused. The words that Lu Ping had said. As far as he knew the Mountain and Sea gang was only here looking for some stupid token. How was it that they had lost more things than what they claimed? They had only so far claimed that they had lost a token, and yet for some unknown reason the other was also talking about...a few? What other things had they lost? As far as XiFan knew, the Mountain and Sea gang only lost a token, and he did keep a somewhat close watch on these people. It was necessary, especially considering that there were more than a few instances where the gang would head too close for comfort. Furthermore, it was something that threatened more than just him, even the Emperor had expressed a desire to destroy the gang before it posed more trouble, and yet it would seem that despite that, Lu Ping was here standing up against them with, next to no fear, and pushing them to speak.

What was the other thinking? It was horribly stupid. Next to sucidial. Then again, XiFan supposed that they had all taken this on, and none of them really expected to live. This was just so that they could spare time. Lu Ping was probably procrastinating the fight so that they could have more time, though XiFan did not know what he thought about that. They all kne wthey could not even hope to compare to even one of them when they were in top form and prepared for it. The Mountain and Sea Gang had incredibly formidable allies. Their martial artists were incredibly powerful, and cruel.

The woman looked at him curiously. "A few things you say?" Lu Ping inhaled sharply, realizing immediately he had spoke too much. He swallowed, but knew better than to back down. The woman looked, almost curious. He would say it was idle if he did not know better, but he did know better, and the look in her gaze left him worried about what was going to come next. In true form, it was too late for him to back down now. If he did they would find it suspicious. He stepped forwards, moving gracefully as he ignored XiFan and the others who were panicking and trying to pull him backwards not understanding what he was thinking.

He could not let things be distracting this, however, and he chose to play with fire as he did so. He gave the other a smile, tilting his head to the side and a bit of a laugh. He hummed putting his finger against his lips, and tapping them as he pretended to be thinking. He hummed and looked at them, condescending. "Well, yes, after all, your lovely little master seems to be loosing quite a few different things as of late." He gave them a smirk. "After all, how many things barring this token have you lost?" He asked, closing his eyes he looked towards the ground. "Are you going to reclaim them all?" He wondered, idly letting his eyes draw patterns in the ground.

"Of course we will," The man said simply his voice rife with anger. Lu Ping smirked.

"Well, then...." Lu Ping pulled the token out from his robes, holding it to his side, he looked upwards, his eyes glowing eerily. "Come get us then." He hissed. The two stayed where they were for but a moment before launching themselves at him.
