He never thought that he'd find himself wandering the very world he sought to torture.
Vici was a petty lower-form god that had taken it upon himself to cause a little bit of destruction upon earth and wreak havoc on its people. He had gotten successful over the centuries, influencing selfish and destructive thoughts on the people of earth. Of course, it was all part of nature — apart from causing families to fall apart or governments to fall. Having a little devil on your shoulder was part of life — he had no part in the choice being made, but merely the options available.
Vici didn't think of himself as a bad person — just a small-time god with no real power over people except to affect their will. More often than not, he thought of himself as a higher scale human, rather than a god. He could maintain a human form, after all, to communicate better.
However, one day, he managed to find a human he quite liked.
Vici had invaded South Korea, wandering until he found a fallen soul to influence negatively. No one paid him any mind, thankful that he could just wander aimlessly with no consequences. While passing a university, his eyes landed on a particularly tall, handsome boy with a girl by his side. They spoke to one another, fond smiles decorating their expressions.
Vici grew to love that gentle gaze.
The boy bid farewell to the girl before walking away. Vici, who had chosen that pretty boy as his target, began walking towards him. His dark aura was obvious, his slight smirk accented by the red tint in his eyes. The boy noticed Vici walking towards him and slowed down slightly. "Ah, hello, can I help you?"
Vici stopped, his hands pressed into his pockets carelessly. "What a pretty face."
The boy grew fearful at Vici's rough undertone and took a step backward. "Uhm, are you okay…?"
"Tell me your name."
"C-Choi Soobin. Wait, why am I just telling this to you— what, how did—?!"
"That girl you were with seems to like you — but I'm not too sure about that, actually," Vici said, suddenly sitting on the wall beside the male now known as Soobin. "What was her name… Ryuhyeon, was it? I can't be too sure… unless I'm right."
Soobin looked at him with widened eyes. "H-how do you know…? This is creepy, who are you?"
Vici lied on his side, his smirk flickering again. "Me? Oh, I'm… not someone for you to know just yet. Choi Soobin — the boy with a handsome face." His aura enveloped him and he disappeared, suddenly appearing beside Soobin. "You and Ryuhyeon seem happy, but she's probably happier with someone else right now. You know… cheating, probably."
"Ryuhyeon would never cheat, we promised to love each other."
"Sure, okay."
Vici's eyes flashed red and he chuckled, seeing Soobin's eyes flicker red as well. Soobin was clearly uncertain, and he needed one last push for him to question his relationship with his girlfriend. Soobin shook his head quickly, looking off to the side. "You're not human — are you?"
"Thats right, but I can't let you remember that," Vici chuckled, appearing on the wall again. "I'm Vici, a god of havoc, disharmony, disorder and discord — nice ring to it, huh? I adapted this human form to communicate with you. I'll tell you this, only because I'll erase your memory in a bit — I quite like you. I'll do everything in my power as a god to make your life fall to the point where I'm the only one you'll ever need."
Soobin scoffed slightly. "A god, yeah right — next thing you'll tell me is that you have magical powers. Look, I'm not a child, stuff like that is stupid—"
"Believe what you want," Vici smirked, "because you'll be mine soon enough. My very own Choi Soobin. You might want to check on your girlfriend, Soobin — she could be doing things without you."
"Ryuhyeon is doing nothing like that! She loves me, an— holy shit, you're floating!"
Vici laughed slightly, crossing his legs as he began levitating upside down. "You're so adorable, even from this angle."
"Stop that."
"I'll stop in a moment."
Soobin scoffed slightly, turning around to walk away from the god. "I'm probably just hallucinating because of that exam, I'm just really tired…"
"Do what you want, Choi Soobin," Vici called out, suddenly appearing in front of Soobin. "Maybe she doesn't love you as much as you think. The eyes that see aren't always the eyes that know. My eyes know."
Vici moved his hand in front of Soobin's face and he vanished. He had returned to his realm to watch from a distance while Soobin looked around in confusion. He had erased the memory of the Korean boy, and he didn't remember their encounter. However, his eyes still glowed red with distrust.
Vici watched through the opening on the ground, reflecting what was happening on earth. Beside him was his sibling, Veni, who was giving him a look of disapproval. "You're a menace."
"And you're a weakling," Vici replied. "I'll be making a South Korean persona to play with the human Soobin for a bit — it just seems like an awful lot of fun."
"Stop making more work for our brother and myself — Vidi is quite irritated with you," Veni muttered with a heavy sigh. "I suggest not using a painfully obvious or common name — think uniquely this time."
