Premiership of Erwin Rommel

FIRST MONTH IN CHARGE

On June 15th, 2021, Rommel became the Supreme Leader of the newly established Union of Nazi Social Republics, or UNSR. At first, the country received minimal recognition but on July 5th, the UN held a social security meeting, in which all members of the United Nations formally recognised its existence.

INTERVENTION IN WABISTAN

The country was divided on whether or not to join the conflict in Wabistan. After the Federal College held a democratic vote, the Cascarovina formally joined the war on behalf of Hezbollah's side. Cascaro mainly gave medical and tactical support in order to avoid a full-out conflict. Rommel officially ordered 13,000 soldiers to enter the country, mostly to help defend Hezbollah’s strongholds. Eventually, Hezbollah conquered the entirety of the country. Because of the crimes against humanity commited by Hezbollah, many people blamed Rommel for ruining the country. He has denied all allegations of violating women’s rights, and quoted “For whichever government that may propose its constitution, it is important to maintain a great amount of unity and strength, and that shifting blame, to anyone, during a time that is not preferable for a certain group of people, is very disrespectful to the victims of the war”.

ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT

On September 7th, 2021, an attempt on Rommel’s life, known as the September Plot, occurred. Former Field Marshal Edders Vinsaus, a bodyguard, got his pistol and shot Rommel approximately 7 times before being assassinated himself. Another plotter, unknown identity, grabbed his own gun and shot Rommel three times, hitting him once, before he was caught. In total, Rommel was shot ten times, and after extensive medical attention, it was confirmed that his stomach was suffering from internal bleeding. He “nearly died” on September 8th, after an unsuccessful operation. The UNSR responded by torturing the remaining plotter, using all forms of brutal methods to achieve his confessions. In Landers, President Harrison Robin refused to condemn the assassination attempt, but also refused to endorse it. General Edmund vin Streppenhausen, who is believed to be acting Leader of Cascarovina, called the plot a “vicious cancer that will not come without consequences”. He added, “Those that plotted against our dear leader, and those that support the plot, will suffer the wrath of revenge.”.

Rommel was treated with steroid injections, primarily Claushaphen Steroids, and was subject to many more operations. Eventually, he began to recover and left the hospital 5 days after the incident, although some sources have reported that Rommel has Parkinson’s disease, an unstable heart and a low blood pressure, none of which have been proven. The identity of the second plotter remains shrouded in mystery. It is believed that he is still alive, although he is being heavily interrogated and tortured. On September 13th, however, Rommel made a long speech, announcing the beginning of the New Order and New Deal, as well as condemning what he called the Five Great Evils, vowing to eliminate them. Rommel’s confirmed that he was perfectly healthy after being discharged from the hospital, and asked the large crowd if they wanted a Total War against the Five Great Evils, to which they immediately shouted “Yes!” in Aryan language. The speech, known as the Five Great Evil’s speech, or the Total War speech, marked the beginning of Rommel’s Empire. A new name (Union of Nazi Social Republics), as well as a new anthem and a new constitution.

Following the speech, Rommel went back to his cabin in Mt. Baurghessen, classifying an estimated 30,000 documents. He announced that day that he would hold the Evil Trials on September 15th, also known as the Great Purge. Rommel sent 17,000 people to a court with himself as the jury and judge. The trials attempted to convict all enemies of the state.

Rommel sentenced Markus vin Steiken to the Brazen Bull, a sadistic method of torture. Steiken would be placed inside a metal bull, with fire underneath, making his shouts audible. Steiken died hours later. He would be Rommel’s first victim. Varun Strekenhausen was charged with Crimes Against The Government, and was sentenced to the Brazen Bull. Paul Hausen, who was the Vice President under Mikel Honorius, was also sentenced to the Brazen Bull. Of the 17,000 people in the trials, 15 cases have been finalized. An estimated 13 have been sentenced to death, 1 to 17 years of prison and another one was considered not guilty by Erwin Rommel.

NEW ORDER AND NEW DEAL

In September 2021, Erwin Rommel introduced a New Order to Cascarovina. Shortly after, he introduced the New Deal. The New Deal allowed economic reforms, such as the Universal Healthcare Act, Meritocracy Act and the Globalization Act. The New Deal made healthcare free, one of his few socialist ideas. It also made the country a Meritocracy. A national Bank, Nazionallen Banken, printed and controlled all the money in the country. In order to receive money, citizens would have to earn it, thus making the country’s economic system based purely on merit, and the Globalization Act made Cascarovina trade with numerous foreign countries, presiding over his previous isolationist tactic.

The New Order established a new hierarchy in the country’s government, a new flag, a new anthem, a new education system, as well as a number of power reforms. The New Order helped the creation of the New Deal, both of which agreed to abolish the federal budget, and made schools free for kids. Rommel New Deal saw the removal of 500,000 schools nationwide, replacing them with 3, affordable schools for everybody. This decision led to rapid urbanisation, turning the cities in the 3 main schools extremely important. Due to excessive immigration, Rommel made an amendment to the New Deal, allowing 100 schools across the 100 most populated cities.
