As teeth pierce her flesh, Lisa wakes up in bed with a loud gasp. Her hand reaches up to her throat as the feeling of sharp canines puncturing her neck lingers. Her fingers meet smooth skin, no blemishes to be felt. She lets out a breath of relief.
Another nightmare that felt so realistic.
She shakes her head and chuckles at herself. She shouldn't have watched a horror film about werewolves before bed, especially on a school night.
"Pokpak! Get your sexy ass down here and have breakfast with me before school!" Lisa flops back down onto her bed with a groan when she hears her best friend's voice shouting at her from downstairs.
It's too early to hear Bambam howling at her.
She turns onto her side and curls herself into a ball for maximum comfort. If she had to choose between food and sleep, Lisa will hands down choose to sleep every time.
Just as she begins to feel the soothing grip of slumber pulling her under, her bedroom door slams open and bounces off the wall with a resounding boom. Lisa's whole-body jolts at the sudden noise, her hand grabbing her chest in fright.
"What the hell Bam!" Lisa growls, glaring at her best friend who is standing in the doorway with a shit eating grin on his face. "Babe, if you get anymore beauty sleep, you'll give all the students at our new school a heart attack." She can't help but roll her eyes at his statement as she throws her pillow at him while mumbling "shut up."
She chuckles as the pillow hits him square in the face with a thump and then falls to the floor. His mouth is agape as he looks at her on the bed with a gobsmacked expression. She knows that he did this on purpose in order to relieve her first day of school stress. She's grateful for having a best friend like him.
She was a hot mess last night, pacing back and forth in front of the television while practicing her Korean greetings. Bambam was sitting on the couch, head moving side to side as he followed each of her movements.
Nervous was an understatement for how Lisa felt. Her and Bambam moved from Thailand to South Korea at the beginning of the summer this year.
Luckily, Lisa knew Korean because of her father. He had many business dealings in Seoul and would take her along as she grew up.
She knows that she's fluent enough, but she worries that the stress and anxiety of starting college in a foreign country will cause her to forget everything she learned.
The last thing she needs to do is make a fool of herself. People can be harsh, and she wouldn't necessarily say she's a sensitive soul...But she still doesn't want people to judge her.
Ugh! Why couldn't her father allow her to stay at her college in Bangkok? Why was he so insistent on her coming here? She was her father's princess and the fact that he made a snap decision to send her far away from him and the family makes no sense.
Oh no, the stress and anxiety are bubbling up inside her again.
Lisa's head snaps back as something soft smacks her in the face.
She slowly raises her head, looking up at Bambam with her doe eyes as wide as saucers.
Her best friend is bent over, hands on his knees, laughing. He's laughing so hard that he has tears coming out of his eyes.
"You should see your face!" He states in-between gasps for air, as he now holds his sides in pain from his laughter. "You little shit!" Lisa shouts, scrambling out of her sheets to tackle the Thai man. He immediately stops laughing and holds his hands in front of him in a sign of peace.
