It was going to be a long afternoon.
After about an hour of rambling random math problems and reviewing the differences between an adverb and an ajective I got a call from Dani.
She was a lifesaver.
When I answered the phone the other line was quiet except for occasional sobs. "Dani!" I yelled through the phone.
"Summer," She said between choked sobs," please help. I'm somewhere in a gas station and I'm alone." She whimpered.
"I thought you went to a party tonight with Jessie."
"I did but she ditched with some guy, and when I asked a guy for a ride he drove me here and he-" She started to sob again.
"Dani, do you know where you are?"
"Yes, just please come quick"
She told me the address and I grabbed my keys. On my way to the car I texted my dad the situation and he gave me the okay, knowing that I was a really obiedient daughter and I wouldn't smoke pot or anything like that. I told him I'd be home soon and I was off.
"I didn't know you had a car." Criss said while admiring the leather seats.
"Well I do, which means if you mess it up I'll slit your throat." I smiled and patted the dashboard," 1967 Chevy Impala."
We sat down on the seats and drove as fast as the speed limit could allow us to go.
It was dark outside and I could barely see anything outside of my headlights.
"I'm sorry I couldn't tutor you. I'll drop you off if you want." I started to slow the car down until he set his hand on mine guiding the steering wheel back toward where Dani was.
"It's fine," he said with a soft smile," help your friend. Don't let me hold you back." He chuckled and rubbed theback of his neck.
"How about we tutor now?" I said blindly taking a copy of Romeo and Juliet from the backseat. A book we were reading in one of our classes.
"Okay." He said and he started reading.
About 8 minutes later we pulled into a gas station with Dani on the curb crying and bawling unintelligible words
"Can you fill up the tank while I clean Dani up?" I asked Criss and he nodded while I took out tissues from the cup holder and started wiping the tears from her eyes.
"Are you okay?" I said timidly, not wanting to be too overpowering in this situation.
She nodded her head, biting her bottom lip to keep from sobbing again.
"Here, it's Friday. I'll tell your Dad that your sleeping over at my house." I helped her up and we walked toward the car.
Criss had already filled the tank and was sitting in the car on his phone playing Candy Crush. I got out my blanket that I keep just in case of emergencies and told Dani to lay down. I set the blanket over her and got into the drivers seat.
We drove home in silence.
Hey ladybugs and gentlemen!

The Girl at the Back of the Class (HEAVY RE-WRITING)
Novela JuvenilI tried to dismiss the idea from my head, yet it's been a while since I've personally talked with anyone other than my close friends. I didn't even really think anyone ever knew me from "That girl at the back of the class." Yet, he did, I guess.
