Abuja, Nigeria."Ya Jalal, please teach me how to drive," Jalilah said, resting her head on Jalal's chest. It was a lazy Sunday afternoon, and the couple had decided to relax at the gazebo.
Jalal chuckled, his chest vibrating with a sound that was like music to her ears.
"There's nothing that interesting about driving, Jalilah. Besides, you're still not of age.""But I really want to learn, Ya Jalal. I want to feel myself behind the wheel! And I'll be eighteen next year, so you can start teaching me now."
"You'll need to get your driver's license first, Jalilah. Otherwise, you might get stopped by the VIO."
"Duh! I'm just eager to start using my car," she pouted, earning another chuckle from him. He placed a light peck on her lips.
"You'll eventually get tired of it, Jalilah. It's only a matter of time," he teased, and she laughed.
"I don't think I'll ever get tired of it."
"Promise me you'll teach me before school starts, Ya Jalal. Please?" she pleaded, looking up at him with hopeful eyes.
"Alright, alright... just stop with the puppy eyes," he sighed, making her laugh.
"Thanks, Ya Jalal," she said, snuggling closer to him.
"Ya Jalal, do you know something?"
"Not until you tell me," he smiled.
"I've felt kind of weird since I woke up today. I think my heart's beating faster than normal," she said, making Jalal chuckle again.
"It's beating just fine, Jalilah. There's nothing wrong with you, In Sha Allah."
"In Sha Allah," Jalilah echoed with a smile.
"It's almost lunchtime. Let's head inside so I can whip something up for us," she said, standing up.
"After you, milady," he said with a bow, earning a laugh from her.

It was Monday morning, and Jalilah was alone in the house, as always. Jalal had mentioned he had several meetings and wouldn't be back until five in the evening.
She did everything she could think of to chase away the boredom—watching her K-drama series, reading, chatting with Safiyya, scrolling through social media—but none of it helped. Jalilah realized that what she truly missed was Jalal's presence.
Suddenly, an idea popped into her head. She headed downstairs to the kitchen, deciding to surprise him at the office with lunch. She made stir-fry spaghetti with liver sauce, a chilled pineapple juice, and some fruit salad to go with it. She was done in under an hour and packed everything into a basket before heading upstairs to get ready.
After some shuffling, she chose a beautiful abaya with silver sparkle designs. She took a few mirror selfies, then headed out. Safiyya helped her load the basket into the car, and the driver took off. Twenty minutes later, they arrived at Marshall Groups.
Jalilah knew where his office was, so she headed straight there but was stopped by his secretary, who seemed to be new.
"Excuse me, do you have an appointment with him?" the secretary asked in a tone that sounded almost rude.
"Um...no—" Jalilah began, but the woman cut her off.
"Then you can't go in. You can only see him by appointment."
"Excuse me, you didn't even let me explain who I am—" Jalilah started again.
"I don't care who you are, ma'am. I'm doing my job. Sir gave me strict instructions not to let anyone in without an appointment."
