Crispy leaves cluttered Margo's morning walk to work as Autumn was slowly approaching . In one hand she carried a little black umbrella that sheltered her baby blue dress from a light drizzle. In the other she carried a large white hand tote, big enough for her daily essentials and a small capful of liquid that just may be her only way out of here. It was her fourth day of poisoning her mother and on this morning she felt a little more nervous then usual. As she arrived to work she lay out her morning desserts she prepared for her classmates the night before and right at nine am, No Face's heels clattered up the hallway towards Margo's classroom.
"I love the colors of Fall, they bring such ominous, don't they?" No Face was untying her black trench coat and passing it off to Margo.
"Yes." Margo smiled nervously, she had already prepared the coffee. "I have your coffee here for you." she turned to grab the cup.
No Face reached out and slowly took a sip, to Margo's surprise she made a disgusted face." Ugh."
Margo's heart started to pound. "um, is everything okay?" She stuttered.
"You forgot the sugar." No face put the cup down, still disgusted she scurried over to grab a donut.
Margo's face instantly relaxed. She thought she could taste the poison today, and for a split second everything felt like it had been wrecked.
"I am sorry, here you go." She tossed a sugar cube inside the cup and handed it towards her mother.
No Face noticed Margo's odd nervousness. "Margo." she grabbed her coffee and placed it next to her donut. "What has you so flustered? is it your time of the month?" she grabbed her donut and took a bite. "Oh! are you expecting again my dear?"
"No mam, I am not on my time nor am I with child. It was a chilly walk this morning is all, I got a bit of a chill I believe."
"Why don't you hitch a ride with lover boy?" No Face smirked as she sipped back her coffee.
"I- Mark needs the vehicle to take our daughter to school and I - I enjoy walking." Margo went back to setting out donuts and croissants onto a golden tray.
"I didn't mean Mark." No Face made a crooked smile, she knew she had made Margo even more nervous. "Relax, I am only kidding... however, having an affair, with someone of Harvey's nature, is not an example to show the women around here. Eventually we wont know who's kids who if I allowed that type of behavior. " No Face tossed her half eaten donut in the trash bin and dusted her hands off in front of her. "But you are your mothers daughter. " She chuckled. "Your father was no Harvey, but he was something when we were young lovers."
Margo glanced at the clock above them, any minute now her students should be arriving and she wanted it so desperately to come faster so this conversation could be over. "I- I love my husband.." unsure of what else to follow up with.
" I did too." No Face chuckled. "I'll be off now. Oh.. and we have a young doe in today, tried to run from us last night. I want you to show her she can either settle down and cooperate or you can explain where bad girls go."
Margo remembered her days when she was being punished. "I will do my best."
