Flippy curled up into a little ball to help hide himself when he heard the footsteps coming. His heart was racing. The footsteps got closer, and then stopped just a few feet away from Flippy. Flippy grinned and holding his gun in hand, he jumped up from his hiding spot and spun around, only to find that no one was there. He paused, trying to figure out where the enemy went. Suddenly, he was pelted with cold water as he heard giggling coming from above him. He looked up into the branches of the tree to find a young bear holding a water gun. The young bear sprayed Flippy with water again, still giggling. "Alright, alright, you got me, Cub," Flippy laughed as he helped Cub get down from the tree.
"I win again!" Cub cheered.
"Hey, it's not nice to boast," Flippy playfully scolded Cub, and then sprayed him with his water gun. Cub jumped at the sudden blast of cold water, but he soon grabbed his own water gun and sprayed Flippy back. The two bears kept running around and shooting their water guns at each other, until Cub ran out of water.
"I got you now!" Flippy said, aiming his water gun. Before he could fire, he and Cub heard Pop yelling for Cub, telling him that it's time to go back inside.
"Aww, can't we stay out here for a little while longer?" Cub pleaded as he looked up at Flippy with puppy-dog eyes.
"Now now, Cub, Your father will start to worry if you're late, and it is starting to get dark out" Flippy said as he took Cub's paw and started to lead him back home.
"Could we play again tomorrow, Flippy?" Cub asked, yawning soon after. He was quite tuckered out from all the fun he had that day.
"Sure, as long as Pop's okay with it," Flippy replied. "You know Cub, you're pretty good at sneaking around and surprising your enemy." Flippy said, remembering his old friend Sneaky. He sighed at the memory, and made a mental note to visit Sneaky's grave and pay his respects before playing with Cub.
Once they got to Cub's house, Flippy said goodbye as Cub ran inside to ask Pop if they could play again tomorrow. Pop agreed, since he trusted Flippy to keep him safe. After all, the veteran has been Cub's best friend since the time he learned to talk. Cub never seemed to be scared of Flippy, though that was probably because Fliqpy, Flippy's evil side, always had a soft spot for the young bear. In fact, Cub might be the only person that Fliqpy would never hurt. As much as he loved killing, he still loved kids, too.
Outside the house, just as Flippy turned to start heading home, he heard Cub cheering, which he knew that that meant that Cub had just gotten Pop's permission to play with Flippy again tomorrow. Flippy smiled, and Cub ran back out of the house to tell Flippy the news. "See you tomorrow, soldier" Flippy said as he patted Cub on the head. Cub saluted, and excitedly ran back into the house. Flippy chuckled at the boy's excitement and headed home, thinking about all the fun the two would have the next day.
