8. marching

we're still marching. it feels like we've been in this desert forever. I wonder what clan this was from before. but it doesn't matter. their are no clans anymore just wonkru.

flashback (lilith's like 10 guys)
"you said we had 6 years, we've only been down here for 3."
"I've done everything I can think of short of eradicating the infected plants. for now, the fungus is contained in the soybean crop, but it won't be for long. I've salvaged a few of the healthy plants to use for seeds-"
"how long?"
"one year. less with some luck."
"one year. without a protein source?"
what are they talking about.
"we all know what the answer is."
"abbey"
"if we don't get at least ten percent of our calories from protein, over that amount of time. we'll starve to death. I'm sorry, Marcus, but that's a fact. there is only one potential source."
"Mrs.abbey what are you talking about"
Indra walked up to talk
"the fighting pits"
"will it be enough? to last a year."
"it should be once the crime rate starts to rise. once you put Lilith in the pit more."
what are they ever saying? what does the fighting pit have to do with any of time
"are we seriously talking about this?
"what else are we supposed to do? kane. give us another solution."
"there is no other solutions."
"o what are they talking about? what does the fighting pits have to do with food?"
"can we have some privacy for a minutes please"
everyone leaves the room
"Lilith, listen. everything's going to be okay."
"O what are they talking about. I know I'm a kid but y'all have to stop treating like a baby if I'm gonna help out down here"
she nods
"you're right. we need you and you need to be treated with respect. what Abbey meant with the fighting pits was. was. um. Lilith we're gonna have to eat the people that lost."
what. oh my gosh. she can't be for real
"and there's no other way?"
"no, unfortunately. there's not."
"then that's what we need to do O. for our people to survive. for wonkru"
end of flashback

Blodreina and I were alone in the front when Miller walks up
"Bellamy and Indra want to talk. I don't know what it's about, but we disarmed them."
o doesn't say anything just kept walking
"let them come up"
I don't really want them to come up here but I know O does, they walk up
"you two are marching us into a massacre."
"we'll see."
"echo radioed."
"oh did the traitor finally do her job?"
he glares at me
"she said your enemy knows you're coming. we don't need to worry about the missiles, but they're moving their weapons into position."
"it's safe to assume that since there's only three realistic ways into the valley, that all three will be heavily defended."
"echo's scouting now,"
she'll probably tell them where we're coming from.
"she's looking for the best way in. but since we can't go back because you two burned the farm, and since we can't stop because we'll starve, we thought we should let y'all know that you've killed your people."
"Bellamy"
"leave, now."
"enjoy your walk."
we keep marching as they go back. Blodreina looks really mad.
"we die either way, at least this way we die fighting."
"if only everyone was as much as a warrior as you lilith. wonkru would be as strong as ever."
hours have passed and we finally are going to take a break and O starts to speak
"we're gonna take heavy fire, but as long as we stay together, we can still do this. does everybody understand?"
if this was wonkru after the dark year, we would stay together now matter what. but lately I don't know how this is going to turn out.
"yes I understand. the question is, when we get there are all the cowards in wonkru gonna prove their the enemy."
Everyone looks at me but then a voice was heard
"we need to see her now."
Bellamy. of course and I'm sure Indra is following right behind
"let him in!"
"o. we need to talk about this. without him trying to stop us."
"I said let him in"
"you don't need that."
so indra's not following him for once
"the spy found us a way in?"
"a way to our death?"
"stop it lilith"
"she found a way in, yes. everybody out."
"have you still not learned you're not in charge"
I start walking to him
"they're not gonna go at you're order."
I nod my head at everyone and he looks at me, does he seriously want me out too
"you're lucky their out. remember the last time you were alone with her?"
"she's staying Bellamy"
"okay but before I tel y'all this, we need to set some things straight."
"we're listening"
I go and stand back by O
"this war that you two are so anxious for is about to be fought"
"after a long time of getting interrupted, trust me we know it's about to me fought."
"what I'm saying is that's the last survivable land on earth. that is monumentally stupid."
"this conversation is monumentally stupid. get to the point"
I don't even know if that's how you use that word.
"we're gonna fight this war, the right way."
"does the right way end up with us winning?"
"It ends with us accepting the other side's surrender. once they lay down their arms, we share the valley with them. no executions. no fighting pits."
is he for real?
"real peace."
"believe it or not, I want that, too."
"I wish I believed it."
"fine. I accept your terms."
"can you just tell us how to win this war."
"Indra has the details."
"Bellamy. this is how it was meant to be. you and me."
me just awkwardly standing here.
"fighting side by side."
she keeps talking to him
"I'm not fighting for you. I'm fighting to get back to my family."
"she is you're family and if she wasnt you would be dead."
he just looks at me and walks out
"god I'm tired of them treating me like a little kid. I know I'm young o but in the bunker everyone treated me with respect. and I'm tired of them treating you like you're not in charge"
"you just need to ignore them Lil. their opinions don't matter. their traitors, not family. your my family."
