Prologue

Once Underworld was a place filled with joy and laughter, it flourished under the benevolent eye of the king and the queen. However in a dark turn of events the queen died in childbirth, leaving behind her only daughter, who was named Asuna Yuki, most likely because that was the flashiest name that the king could come up with but I digress. King Heathcliff lavished his daughter with every luxury he could afford, which needless to say was absolutely everything as he was the king. However as the young girl grew up it occurred to him that there were certain things that he couldn't share with her, after all as his daughter she could never be taught to lead an army or slay a foe, so instead he turned his attentions to finding himself a new queen. And find one he did, this new queen was radiant, brilliant, powerful, all that a man could ask for- and just to be clear that new queen was, to no one's surprise, me and make no mistake, this story is mine not that spoiled little girl's. Within a year of meeting me the king, naturally, fell madly in love with me, and all but implored me to marry him. I was his everything, his sun and moon, but our love was not to be, as a dark power threatened the land. Before his ride off to slay this dark being the king farewell to Asuna, and bestowed upon her her mother's favorite rapier, a strange gift for his very young daughter but more on that later as once he rode off he was never seen again. The poor child was crestfallen when she realized that he was never to return, and well.... her upbringing fell to me. Many years passed and the young child turned into a beautiful young woman with an indomitable spirit, and unfortunately it stood to reason that if I was to remain the most beautiful and powerful woman in the land that young woman would have to live up to her namesake and fall, just.
