As an alarm blared at 7:30 in the morning, Roman's hand smacked the clock. He groaned and laid back down, closing his eyes and covering himself in the fluffy blankets.
That didn't last long though as he heard the sound of an air horn, jumped from his bed, and fell on the floor. As he looked up, he saw his twin laughing above him, already dressed and ready, his green eyes almost glowing.
Ro- "Goddamn it Remus, where did you ever get an airhorn!?"Re- "Oh brother, there is no rhyme or reason to what I do, I just do!", Remus said as he ran out of the room, cackling.
Roman rubbed his side, a small bruise forming. He quickly got up and dressed, walking into his bathroom.
Roman sighed as he looked at the few messages he wrote in the mirror. He knew his shadow hadn't appeared yet but he still wanted to try writing something to get a response. He picked up the red marker he had used and erased the previous words. He wrote in big letters "Hope you see this." before walking downstairs to see his mom and Remus.
Mom- "Roman, you better get your backpack, you and Remus are going to be late!"Ro- "Mom, I didn't even have breakfast!"
She tossed him an apple before shooing them out the door and to their bus.

At school, the twins were greeted by their friends, Janus and Logan. Their small friend group was among the most popular, with only 1 person being more popular due to his friendliness and positivity.Lo- "Ah, Remus and Roman. Glad you both made it here on time for once."
Ro- "Well, our mother literally shoved us out of the door!"
Re- "Dude, it wasn't that bad!"
Jan- "If you would stop bickering, I would like to point out that there is a new student."
Re- "Really!? Where!?"
Janus pointed nearby to the office windows. Through the glass, you could see a boy in a black and purple patchwork hoodie and ripped blue jeans, his brown and purple bangs going over his black eyes. He was talking to the secretaries and they gave him a piece of paper before going to the intercom.
PA- "Patton Kindley, please come to the office."Ro- "Whoa... they asked him to go to the office?"
Lo- "I don't believe he is in trouble. I think he is going to be the new kid's guide."
Jan- "Yeah, I find it impossible that he could be in trouble at 8:30 in the morning, let alone any time."
The group watched as Patton walked out of the office with the new kid. Roman could see he looked pale, kind of thin, he also had dark circles under his eyes. Patton was talking cheerfully and the kid cracked a small grin whenever he made a pun. He kept staring at the kid until Remus's voice broke his thought.
Re- "I swear, that kid can make anyone smile."
Jan- "He certainly can."
Lo- "I believe I forgot to tell you guys. My soulmate shadow left another message on my mirror this morning."
Ro- "Logan, that's fantabulous! What did they say?"
Lo- "They said... they go to our school."
Re- "No way dude!"
Roman started to feel a bit sad now. Logan's had his shadow for as long as they'd been at their school and wrote at least once a week or so, Remus and Janus got their shadows a few years ago and they both got messages every few days, he was the only one who had no clue who his soulmate was.
