Zachariel's P.O.V

Alexei and I had decided to tie the knot right after the launch of my new company. The problem with that was that we were too busy running our businesses to plan anything. We were glad when my parents, Alexandre and Amelia, offered to help organize the wedding. We were surprised when they kept us in the dark about everything. It was already Thursday, so I was getting worried. I was in a meeting when Alexei called me to say that the whole family would be visiting us that night. I truly hoped that they would share some information about the ceremony with us.

I wrapped up the meeting, then went to my office. My assistant Derrick followed me. He looked at his watch, then asked me, "Would you like to have lunch now, sir?" I sighed, then answered Derrick with, "Yes. Can you order something light for me, Derrick? I don't feel like eating today." Derrick smiled, then stated, "Mr. Marquis has asked me to make sure that you ate properly, sir. I will order something delicious from your mother's restaurant for you. I'll be right back." I shook my head, then said to Derrick, "Find out where Henrik is, Derrick. I want to talk to him before going home today." Derrick nodded, then walked out of my office.

The news about my past and my relationship with Alexei had spread like wildfire. Gabrielle tried to convince people that it was all a lie. She couldn't believe that Alexei was engaged to a man. Alexei was straight as an arrow, according to her. Alexei got irritated by Gabrielle's behavior. He made sure that no one paid attention to her ridiculous claims. Gabrielle disappeared after a while. I was one of the people who knew where that woman was. Alexei had forced her firm to send her to Turkey to defend a prominent client. She would be back after our wedding had occurred. I sat up straight when I heard a knock on my door. I made sure that I looked presentable, then uttered, "Come in." Henrik walked into my office with his lunchbox.

He took a seat, then asked me, "Would you like to share my lunch with me, sir? I brought lasagna today." I chuckled, then asked Henrik, "Why are you acting like we're still in kindergarten, Henrik?" Henrik looked in bewilderment at me. I laughed, then stated, "Thank you for asking, Henrik, but Derrick has already ordered lunch for me. It will be arriving shortly." Henrik put his lunchbox away, then said, "Okay, we'll eat together then. What did you want to talk to me about, sir?" I was planning to stay home from Friday till Tuesday. Henrik needed to know what I expected from him in my absence. Henrik listened intently to me when I explained the details of the pending cases to him. He made notes to make sure that he didn't make any mistakes.

Henrik and I had lunch while discussing company matters. He went back to his office after our discussion was over. I made sure that everything was in order at all my companies, then went home. Dominique crashed into me the moment I walked into the house. He giggled, then yelled, "The house is full of people today, papa! Aunt Cora and Kaylee left after the strangers came." I got startled when I heard Alexei say, "What is all the commotion about, Zachariel?" I placed a kiss on Alexei's cheek, then responded to him with, "I don't know, Alexei. I just arrived as well. I have a bad feeling about this." Alexei chuckled while ruffling Dominique's hair. He pinched my cheek, then uttered, "We'll survive anything they will throw at us, Zachariel. Let's go greet everyone now."

I slowly walked in the direction of the dining room. Dominique grabbed my hand to support me. I was afraid to find out what the family had planned for us. A girl shyly waved at us when we walked into the dining room. Dominique was right. There were many strangers in the dining room that day. Alexandre greeted us, then added, "Don't worry, guys. My men have already screened Adriana and her employees. They are harmless." Alexei took a seat, then asked his father, "What is all this about, dad?" Amelia put a hand on Alexandre's shoulder, then said, "Let Caterina answer that question, love." Alexandre nodded at Amelia. My mother placed a kiss on my head, then uttered, "Charlotte found your journal in your previous room, son. It seems like you had forgotten that it was there. Charlotte gave it to us when she realized what you had written about in the journal. We are thankful to her, Patrizio. We were in a dilemma because we didn't know what you wanted. We followed your instructions and organized the wedding of your dreams."
