He opened his eyes, breathing in as much as he could. He eyes darted around, taking in the new surroundings. A small candle dimly lit the dark tiny attic room. His bed no more the rickety wooden one bed, instead made of straws with just a plain blanket covering it.

His barefoot touched the cold, wooden floors making him shiver. The place was so different. Did the loan sharks finally catch him and sold him off?

Human trafficking!! So scaryyy!!

The last thing he wanted was getting into the hands of these men. Why did his father have to leave him with these debts! Ugk!

A sharp pain from his back made him tear up. Gently touching his back, he felt the deep gashes that  ran down his back. The blood had dried up and stuck to his body, adding to the pain.

Slowly, he got to his feet and walked some distances before falling on his face. Long blond hair covered his face.

blond hair...blond hair...wait WTF I HAVE BROWN HAIR!

There was a small mirror situated right beside the candle and he quickly rushed to, crawling on all four. Through the hazy mirror, he saw a ghostly face hidden under long dirty hair.

This isn't his face! His hard, toned face was replaced by a soft, malnourished once.

He remembered running away from the men,  getting pushed onto running traffic and then lights and a..truck.

His heart pounded painfully.

Did he actually die?

Just then, the only door in room burst open and walked in a stout lady wearing a muddy apron. Her blood red eyes locked with his own and without any warning, grabbed him with one hand, easily dragging him out.

"Lazing around is all you do. Useless! Making an old woman work! Maybe that beating wasn't enough?! You want master to beat you naked in front of the girls????"

Todd could barely keep up, the strength of this woman was monstrous. How could she treat someone like this? Where are the social workers?!!

They crossed various rooms, all well decorated in vintage styled furniture.  He noticed other boys and girls, cleaning and dusting. All wearing the dirty old clothes. They looked at him anxiously before going back to their task.

The woman threw him outside on the muddy puddle, kicking a bucket at him to fetch water.

"What do you mean fetch..cant you take water from the tap?"

"What non-sense are you saying? Have you finally lost your mind, Giles?? Go to the well and fetch water at once. Master will beat you again if slack!"

Giles? Who is Giles?

" Who are you talking about? I am Todd--"

"Pretending to be a fool now??? You brat! "

She pulled at his ear, forcing him to look up.

"Stop causing trouble or master will sell you to those brothels...they want little boys like you.." she dug her thumb into face at the last part.

Todd recovered quickly, hurriedly taking the bucket and running off on the graveled pathway.

"This woman is scary" he told himself "I should stay away from her as much as I can".

He stopped midway and scanned the area. The whole place was surrounded by forests and the house itself looked like an old delipilated English cottage.

Where am I and whose body is this?

His clothes were simple and his pants were held only by strings. Even the shoes were uncomfortable and weird.

Giles.

The name reminded him of an old story he used to read as the child.  This character was the evil half brother of the hero who tries to cause all sorts of trouble for the main characters.  The character ends up dying later, consumed by the dark magic that used to make him strong.

The dark element he wielded, ended up rejecting him as he originally was a fire element user and slowly made him weak until the climax scene where the heroine killed him to save the hero.

Giles of Rotinghill. An orphan at birth, survived  through luck only to find his parents were much alive and well. Anyone would be angry, how tragic.

He finally found the well the woman referred to and began to start the arduous work.

He carefully tied the bucket to the well, carefully pushing it down the hole.

But when he looked at the reflection in the water this time in the light, his heart sank.

Maybe he was Giles.

Crimson eyes hid under long blond bangs looked back at him with  blazing fur

He sank down on the ground. Why did this happen?

His life was finally changing. He managed to save enough to completely pay the debt. Then why did this happen to him?!

The old men he helped carrying the cart, stole all the cash he had painfully saved.

Not only he died, now he was forced into another hardship world. Was his fate always full of bad lucks?

nooooooooo TT

He stood and rubbed the dirt off his face, looking off at the distance with eyes full of determination.

"Todd. No. Giles! We will survive and we won't die this time!".
