"No no no" thought Amy her mind racing it couldn't be true Nicky couldn't be missing! She had already lost her dad well ok maybe "lost" wasn't the proper word scince she had never met him, he had died working at the ARK factory leaving her mom to watch her and her 2 sisters, her usually drunk mom who was an alcoholic that just got worse after the death of her husband. The thought ended as she drifted back to reality as she felt an arm around her shoulders. "It's gonna be alright Amy" said Alice "I'm sure they will find her". Amy didn't know who THEY were, she didn't care she couldn't care, couldn't think of anything but the pain she felt in her aching heart as something deep inside of her persisted to tell her "no, she's not alright, in fact she is dead now and you will never see her again" it hissed making her cover her ears which did little good of anything but push Alice further away because that voice she was hearing was her own and part of her wanted desperately to believe otherwise but the rest of her knew... The logical part of her mind knew of the strange happenings all over northbrook and even worse knew that she would never see her dear sister again.
Finally, what seemed like hours later, when her sobs became only a soft whimper, she looked up to see Alice staring down at her with soft, conserned eyes that comforted Amy and calmed her to a point where she was able to speak. "Ho... How did you kn... Know where I was" she stammered still shaking from her heart wrenching sobs. "Hey, that's what friends are for right?" Alice said soothingly. "I... I'm just not strong enough to... Amy's sentence was cut off by a tight hug from Alice and a chast kiss on her forehead which wasn't unusual for the friends who had known each other scince second grade and had became just about as close as friends could get through the years. "You are Amy, your so much stronger than you know... I.. I can't say I know how you feel, my only sibling is my dufise brother and I could only wish he would get lost..." A small, harsh laugh from Amy seemingly taking much more effort than it should have. "But..." Alice continued "I hope you know I'll do anything, I mean ANYTHING I can to help and I'm sure joe will to.
ALICES POV:The thought of joe comforting Amy, snuggling into her and reassuring her that everything would be alright hurt Alice more deeply than she would ever admit to anyone, even to herself she couldn't be completely honest about how much she cared about that boy with his dark, curly hair... And the way he laughed! Oh, that laugh could make her hart melt any day. But the way he looked at Amy would harden her hart right back up, and the way they talked about anything and just seemed so happy to be near each other... It was enough to make her weep and how they separated themselves into their own group at social events laughing and casually flirting with each other that she could not stand! Seeing the two people she loved most so clearly in love with each other well, it drove her to do crazy things. She had never lied to Amy before that day and this particular lie sent tears to the brim of Amy's eyes yet she refused to let them flow, not over something so childish as this... Not for him. It had all happened so quickly Alice hadn't been able to even think about the words spilling out of her mouth. "Joe likes guys... Well, Jared to be exact" she had said but the worst was yet to come of course her evil love twisted mind had decided to give her proof of joes actions knowing that Amy wouldn't question Alice, her best friend if she was given proof. "Really?!" Questioned Amy partially sounding amused and the other part sounded almost as if she was offended, as if she had a reason to believe he liked her! "No" her mind hissed "if nither of them will be yours they certainly won't be with each other, I simply will not allow it!" As much as she cared for Amy she couldn't help but say what came next. "Oh, definitely!" She said confidently "I saw them holding hands while we watched an in class movie, and Jared had his arm around him when we were dismissed for lunch!" At that Amy deflated "oh... I, I guess that explains why he has rejected all those girls that asked him out, even the pretty, popular ones."
JOE'S POV: it had Ben a normal day, actually it had Ben better than normal! Joe had Ben hanging out with his friends all day... Especially Amy and he hadn't stopped thinking about her, not even for a minute scince he had woken up that morning. They had just Ben sitting by each other in science, nonchalantly flirting with each other which made him have butterflies in his stomach but he played it off like any regular joke. "So, your like seriously like not gonna kiss meh?! That's like totes not cool kitten!" She said in a mock prep voice making him laugh. " I don't know... If you kiss me we might just *squiggles eyebrows* do something else if you know what I mean eh...?" She laughed and playfully pushed him away "well..." She said towing at the ground "I guess we could *pulls him closer until their noses almost touch* take it just a little bit further" his Mind wend cloudy as he unconsciously leaned into her touch, their close proximity making him practically pant for breath. But almost as soon as it had happened she had separated them laughing.
Just another one of their jokes he reminded himself. Only a joke, that's all it ever had Ben with them... All it ever would be. Why did he have to like the one girl who had shown to actual interest in him when he could have had almost any other girl in eighth grade?! But he knew the awnser to that question all to well, had pondered it for quite some time actually. If was because she was her! She was funny and adventurous and cute! Oh god she was cute, and even deeper that they just connected it's like she knew and really understood him like no one else ever had and he wanted... Sometimes even thought he needed that, needed her! But of course as his luck went he couldn't have her he suspected that she liked Alice or Brent as she obviously had no care for anything gender related, you could sometimes even hear her grumble when coach Bradley separated the teams by boys and girls categories and, best of all there had ben much-louder-than-average grumbling when he had called those half ass knee push ups "girl push ups" I could see him wince after he said it his eyes drifting towards Amy them quickly averting themselves from the sneer she gave him mid "guy push up"
She had seen joe looking at her and quickly changed her sneer to a catlike hiss while doing a "sass hand swoosh" as she rose from her spot on the floor getting only a flustered, probably blushing joes awkward snort in reply. He inwardly winced as she laughed at him while giving him an over dramaticised "ok" sign and returning to her workout. After gym their team had won by 5 points, she walked up to give him a high five "nice job piggy" she said, ending the sentence with a oink-snort that he would have to later make fun of.
"JOE!" The teacher half yelled making him almost fall out of his chair "did you hear ANYTHING I just said?!" She exclaimed, clearly exasperated she called on someone else. Damn! Joe thought, he had Ben spacing off in class thinking of her for only God knows how long but then the thoughts he had Ben trying to avoid jumped into his mind... Where WAS Amy? Was she okay? Why had Alice leaft school right after her?! But still no awnsers were provided by his now over worked brain.
By the end of school he was almost driven insane with his mind full of bad casonsrios and fatale endings in her probably harmless trip to the office. He practically ran down the hall almost forgetting to stop by his locker. He checked his phone hoping to have a message or missed call from one of them with no such luck. He messily grabbed his books and plowed them into his book bag, only having the patients to put the strap over one shoulder. Seems like today's mission was to find out what was up with the sudden...
