Izuku is, simply put, freaking the fuck out. Aizawa didn't even tell him they were doing one-on-ones against him! And he was hoping to just sit back and observe. Ya'know, take it easy.
One dead look from Aizawa has any of Izuku's protests dying in his throat.
Welp, guess it can't be avoided. The boy smiles. At least it'll be fun!
"Alright, first up is Kaminari!" All Might announces, gracefully breaking out of his stony-faced state and reverting back into his Symbol of Peace persona.
"Aw, why me?" Kaminari whines.
"Stop complaining and get on the field," Aizawa grumbles.
Kaminari walks onto the field without further prompting, Izuku trailing right behind him. The blonde gets into a sloppy fighting stance while Izuku merely sizes him up.
Now, when it comes to battling people new people, Izuku has learned to be ready for anything. He has to be prepared for any quirk, fighting style, or personal information that can be used againt him. It's best to be extra careful and observant or else death is a very possible outcome.
Izuku notices electricity flickering around Kaminari's arms, giving him a slight glow and making the hair there stand up.
Gotcha.
Kaminari just made a fatal mistake. Izuku knows to never show your cards to the enemy. One of the most valuable things you have in a fight is the element of surprise. By showcasing his quirk to the enemy beforehand, Kaminari has given up that advantage.
Izuku smiles big at Kaminari and Kaminari's confidence visibly wavers. He shakes it off and charges at Izuku.
Another mistake. A direct charge tells the opponent exactly where you are heading, making your movements predictable and fairly easy to counter. Honestly, Izuku is starting to question Aizawa's teaching capabilities.
Izuku tracks Kaminari's movements. The blonde is about to reach him when Izuku jumps straight up, Kaminari continuing to run below him. Since Kaminari has an electrification quirk, Izuku can't touch him. However, quirks like that typically have a limit based on stamina. Finishing the fight should be easy for Izuku considering how Kaminari basically ran in without any strategy.
Izuku lands on the ground softly behind Kaminari.
"You're going to have to move a lot faster if you wanna catch me," he says, taunting the other.
Kaminari crouches and Izuku knows what's coming. The vigilante quickly leaps as far away from Kaminari as he can as the boy lets out a large blast of electricity. A few bolts of lightning nearly hit Izuku, but he's able to dodge them. Izuku lands safely back on the ground and Kaminari is lying face-down in the dirt. He rolls over and gives Izuku a thumbs-up and a stupid smile. Yeah, he's down for the count.
"Midoriya wins. Next up is... Hagakure. This should be interesting."
Izuku feels a presence come up next to him. She's invisible! Aizawa is right, this will be interesting.
"Begin!" Aizawa shouts.
Izuku closes his eyes. He can feel the air to his left shift. He dodges what he assumes is a jab to his stomach. The vigilante kicks out his leg and feels a body fall over it. He's about to try and pin Hagakure down when he loses track of the invisible girl. Izuku jumps back up on his feet, eyes still closed, and expands his senses. He can smell a hint of lilac-scented perfume and he dives in that direction. Izuku's arms close around Hagakure and the pair fall to the ground. Her arms and legs are flailing and it's hard for Izuku to catch them without being able to see. He loses his balance and Hagakure kicks Izuku over her. He lands hard on his back.
