"The Demonic Cultivator Wei Wuxian and the hounds left of the Wen Clan have finally been executed, let's rejoice for the monster who killed countless people including his shijie and her husband is finally dead." The news of the Patriarch's death spread like wildfire throughout the renowned clans during the era of ancient China. As Lan Zhan caught wind of this his heart stopped for the first time since the passing of his father. Is he really dead?
The second young master of the Lan Clan was going to help Wei Ying escape, when he just realized he was too late. It all sunk in as he looked through what remained of the Yiling Mounds.
-
After he passed.
After Wei Ying passed.
"Are there any remnants of Wei Wuxian?"
"Where is he?"
"Where has he gone, did the clans really kill him?"
"If I just took him back to Gusu would he still be alive?"
Walking through what remained of the bloodied Yiling while his back painted his white robes red. The recent lashings given aching and burning, still Lan Zhan searched for hours on end intoxicated on the hope that the young Demonic cultivator would still be there.
How could one of the brightest cultivators perish like that?
The foolish person he once knew would not die this easily, what happened?
What happened to the clad in red and black who
gave him those many memories throughout their youth? What happened to the youth who loved talking about his home in the Lotus Pier, the youth who had fear and hatred towards dogs, the youth who would brag countless times about naming his nephew, the youth who copied all 3000 rules alongside Lan Zhan, the youth who would drink under the moonlight while being chased by the cold, serious young Lan Zhan? What happened to the youth that Lan Zhan fell in love with?
Roaming unsteadily, in pain still insisting that he look through bodies, and the belongings of others, Lan Zhan finds nothing of the Wei Ying he so loved, but from the corner of his eye he sees tiny bloodied hands of an infant from a hole in an old stump surrounded by nothing but corpses wearing blood-soaked robes. This child. This child is the only remaining Wen who was alive and breathing. His pale soft skin dirtied from the dirt around him, his adorably big bluish gray eyes, the little pony tail of his soft dark hair, done messily over his dirtied Wen robes.
Wei Ying was fond of this child, A-Yuan, the child Lan Zhan once met. Should he take in this child Wei Ying doted on and raise him in his memory? Lan Zhan was always the one to stay on the righteous path, when Wei Ying first rescued and gave them protection as a sign of goodwill to those who had nothing to do with the acts of the people who controlled the Wen clan. Lan Zhan agreed with Wei Ying, but as such many did not agree. This was Lan Zhan's chance to take action against those who opposed it through secret and keep this child they both were somewhat attached to. Even if he is to get punished as he has before.
This twin jade has gotten punished many times over because of Wei Wuxian, the most severe was when Lan Zhan once saved Wei Ying from death, injuring 33 of the people from his own clan earning him 33 scars on his back. If he had to endure it again to keep this memory of Wei Ying alive, he would do anything.
This was the only thing left that reminded him of Wei Ying, it was precious.
