Life is full of mystery and untold secrets. In some instances, people tend to bury it in the past not thinking that it could still haunt them in the present. When everything seems to be fine, unexpectedly the mistake you've made will ask for its hell payment.
“Mom, dad, why do we have to be back here?!” Vivienne stomped her feet after arriving at their old house.
Vivienne's parents owned a business but unfortunately it has been bankrupt. They have to sell some properties to start a new one. That includes selling their mansion. They had an old house far away from the city and her parents decided to just live there.
Her dad opened the rusty gate that irritates her more. Looking around, she noticed the clumps of rotten leaves clung to the base of the house. It's huge but looks so haunted.
“For pete sake, are you sure we will stay here?!” Vivienne exclaimed as the door creaked when her father opened it.
“We have to Vivienne,” her mother spoke and they scanned around.
The house is full of dust with a lot of cobwebs, old ripped curtains were scattered and sheets covered the old furniture. There were chandeliers but they had a broken string of crystals, gloomy staircase and old portraits. It looks abandoned and lifeless.
“We just have to clean. For sure we can renovate this little by little,” Vivienne's father stated and Vivienne went upstairs annoyingly.
Entering a messy room, a shadow that runs outside flickered at the corner of Vivienne's vision. She quickly looked for it but found no one. She felt cringe but just chose to ignore it.
It was weekend, no class, and being alone at the house, Vivienne called her friends to come to have a small party. It was evening and her parents were still not yet coming. She and her friends were busy drinking alcohol and partying along with the music.
One of their friends entered and confusingly approached Vivienne.
“Vivienne, how come you're already here? We just talked outside.”Vivienne paused.
“What? I'm just here the whole time.”“But—we've talked earlier. Fuck! Is there any ghost here?” Her friend scanned around.
“Know what, you must be drunk,” Vivienne teasingly mumbled and their other friends laughed.
Their party was over and her friends left. She was alone again. Feeling tipsy, she walks upstairs as her footsteps echo. Suddenly, she heard a loud slam of a door followed by rattling windows coming from the second floor that made her stop. She confidently continued on walking. She looked around but then it became so quiet.
“Oh well, it must be just the wind.” Vivienne rolled her eyes. Her vision caught the attention of an old picture on the wall. She slowly went near to grab it and strongly threw the frame.
Monday came and everyone's busy completing the requirements needed for their coming examination.
“Hello ma'am, good morning. We are just here to ask for your signature in our test permit.” Vivienne approached their teacher together with her friends.
“Hi Vivienne! If I was not mistaken, you already went here and asked for it,” her teacher said.
They all seemed surprised. Vivienne managed to compose herself.
“I've never been here ma'am. I was with my friends earlier. Look ma'am, you don't have a sign yet.”“Maybe I was just mistaken. Weird but alright I'll just sign this,” their teacher unbelievably stated.
It was in the middle of the night when Vivienne woke up from the loud noise coming outside her room. There seems to be running footsteps on the stairs, repetitive creaking of doors and a sound of moving chairs. She felt nervous and afraid. She knows that at the moment, it would be impossible that it was her parents. Feeling terrified with what she's hearing, her fright added more remembering what her teacher mentioned that morning. Vivienne did her best to brush off that feeling and covered a blanket on her whole body.
