It is the year 1913. Summertime has just arrived. Most kids, like me, are out of school. My name is Ember and I am 14 years old. At this moment I am in the Adam forest with my friend Emma. The Adam forest if full of flowers, trees, wild creatures, and fairies. But people are only known to see fairies if they look hard enough. My friend Emma and I are the only two people to ever have found the fairies. After getting to know a fairy named Ben and a Fairy named Aria, we befriended them.

Every year, the four of us get together in the fairy forest to play hide and seek. In the game of hide and seek we are playing now, I am the seeker. I have found both Aria and Ben. However, I can't find Emma. After about two more minutes of searching for her, I hear a scream. "That's Emma," I yell! Aria, Ben, and I take off running towards the direction where we heard her scream.

When we finally reach her, she is trapped in vines. "We have to get her out of those vines somehow," I say. I turn and look at Aria. "Aria, give me your knife." I take Aria's knife and carefully cut the vines away so Emma is no longer stuck. The vines that where around Emma's throat, arms, legs, and torso, now lay on the ground unmoving. Once Emma catches her breath she says, "I was running to the big rock by the stream when those vines rouse up and tangled around my body. So I screamed hoping one of you would hear me and eventually find me." I give her a hug and say, "I am just glade you are ok."

We stand there for a few moments, none of us really sure what to say or do. Finally, Aria says, "We should get going." Aria and Ben give both Emma and I hugs. Then Ben says, "We will see you both next year." When he said that my heart deflated. I hate the fact that we only get to see them once a year. But at least it wasn't good-bye. "I wish you both well and can't wait to see you guys again." Before they leave, Ben walks up to me and opens his hand. In his hand is a seed. When he says a spell, the seed grows into a beautiful rose. But it isn't just any rose. It's a blue rose.

He hands it to me and whisper, "this is a thank you for saving Emma." I then watch him turn away, and walk with Aria into the dark part of the forest. I just stood their and watched them until they vanished. When we could see them anymore, I turn to Emma and say, " let's go home." When we get out of the forest, we part ways to our houses. I never did see Aria or Ben again.

It is the summer of 1990. I am now 91 years old. I am sitting in bed surrounded by my grandchildren. All three of my grandchildren have tears in their eyes because of the way my experience with the fairies ended. My one granddaughter Mary asks, "Grandma, didn't you say that people are known to see fairies if they look hard enough?" I smile at her and say, "Yes Mary." So I close my eyes and find myself back in the same forest, I was 77 years ago. When hear the crunching of leaves behind me, I turn. When I turn I am greeted with two familiar faces. I smile and hug both Aria and Ben, happy to see them again.
